Remember this is a 7pm kick-off. Will we play two seperate teams tonight or try to experiment with a starting eleven at least in the first half.....only one more friendly before the league starts Sunday week at Sheffield W. Will we still have Cooper and Whittaker amongst are starting eleven...or will one or both be gone....too late in the window gives us less time to replace them.....and not knowing what we have to spend on replacements.
Cooper, Ogbeta, Houghton, Scarr, Cissoko, Whittaker, Bundu, Galloway, Tijani, Forshaw, Palsson. Subs. Hazard, Mumba, Pleguezuelo, Hardie, Wright, Gibson, Earley, Sorinola, Jenkins-Davies, Issaka.
Bristol R...2-1...Argyle....F/T. Hardie. We need a Championship defence before the Sheffield W game....or it's going to be a long hard season.
Doesn’t sound particularly good does it with a recurring theme of looking bright up front and not so good at the back. That’s as much down to how the team’s set out of course and how well the other players do their jobs. It did feature last season too: in the top few for goals scored at one stage but also goals conceded.
The first goal seems to have come from a rare mistake by Michael Cooper. Hopefully there won’t be many on those.
Watched the video....Cooper gave them the first goal on a plate. Plenty of scoring chances....but terrible finishing.
Good quality highlights: plaudits to Bristol Rovers. Why did they play in green and us in white? An opportunity to sell the new away kit(s) or am I being cynical again? That's not the Michael Cooper we know. Hopefully a rare aberration and not signs of being unsettled by transfer speculation. We made a lot of chances and on another day could have got a hatful. I'm glad to see Ryan Hardie score with his usual relentless urge to put it in the net. His pre-eminent position upfront looks under some threat but when you need a goal, he's your man. Poor defending for both goals conceded: the unnecessary error by Cooper for the first and Sorinola (I think) not strong enough to block the runner for the second.
Wayne Rooney post-match interview. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/rooney-plymouth-argyle-bristol-rovers-9444199 This isn't a pop at Rooney in particular because it's absolutely rife, I do wish all sports media outlets would apply proper filters to correct grammar. Kids read this stuff you know! Do they? Can they? Adverbs and adjectives. Them and those. Dare I say, quick and fast? As you know, I'm a motorsports fan, particularly F1. They have a quick car. No they don't, they have a fast car. Feel free to vent on other examples.
