15:02 Chester - Who's Glen e/w

Class-2 Heritage Handicap over an extended 2m2f on good ground.

All depends if this Gleneagles gelding can handle the prevailing fast ground conditions. We'll soon see. Oisin Murphy rides for the Andrew Balding yard.

10/1 (Wm.Hill) top price on the ATR site, at time of writing.

Interesting that Derby entry Al Wasl Storm avoided the Ballydoyle battalions earlier in the week but readily took the 12 furlong maiden on today's Chester card. His time compared to standard was very similar to Lambourn's and around 1.6s quicker than Minnie Hauk (a furlong shorter and the slowest time compared to standard on the entire Wednesday card).

Al Wasl Storm still available at 150/1 for the Derby which I think is a bit of an insult.

Balding jockeys win the first 3 races at Chester

In fact the Jockey Club Cup on Friday all the jockeys were Balding's. He's not only a good trainer of horses.

When I first read "Balding jockeys" I thought you meant their hair was thinning <laugh>

19:15 Hereford - Moonshine Man

Class-4 Handicap Hurdle over distance just short of 2m4f on good ground.

No form to speak of, but may well do a lot better after 2nd Wind Op. Wears tongue-strap for 1st time.
Brendan Powell rides for Miss Henrietta Knight.

11/2 best price in several places on the ATR site, at time of writing.

Won by 2-lengths at 3/1 SP. Very comfortable winner in the end. The two wind-ops and the tongue-strap on for the first time certainly made a heck of a difference. Fine ride by Brendan Powell for the Henrietta Knight yard.

Ran a really good race to finish 5th in this very tricky handicap, on a surface the gelding is not used to. 9/1 SP. So I guess this qualifies as an e/w wager?
