New Vocation 50/1 e/w (4 places) - Curragh 2.30

A speculative bet today for me - New Vocation has dropped back to a mark of 62 which can see her become competitive once again. The drop back to 10 furlongs will suit, her two victories to date have came over this distance. The ground is no issue, and it is the type of race that could play into her hands if she can get to the front in this large field. Her two victories have come with 7lb claimers on board and tomorrow 7lb claimer Gearóid Brouder rides. I may well be off on a wild Goose chase here but it's definitely worth the risk at the odds where only a handful of the 18 runner field seem to be in good form currently.

Best of luck to everyone having a go.

As Resurgam kindly pointed out, now a non - runner.

Lovely performance by Allmankind at Warwick and he puts down a serious marker for the Arkle. Jumped beautifully and we all know he has a right old motor. I wonder how Fred slots in alongside Shishkin at Seven Barrows?

15:30 Hexham - A Ladies Milan

(Good chance for trainer Lucinda Russell if her charge can improve on his jumping a little? Good conditional jockey, Blair Campbell, has the ride and takes a handy 3lb. allowance, which makes net riding weight of 10st13lbs pretty attractive. On breeding, heavy ground and distance should hold no problems for the gelding.)

I used to like Spear Of Destiny's music in the 1980s so it has to be Rainmaker in the 4.20 Warwick <ok>

A Ladies Milan's jumping has not improved one iota, lost ground at just about every fence. An awful lot of work needed on this one. Quite a small horse really. The favourite and winner of the race was in last place for most of the way, and then went past the lot of them as though they weren't there! A worthy winner.
