The tick boxes or my bumpe selections include; Mum won or placed in a bumper, tick. Siblings have won a bumper, tick. Yard do well in bumpers, tick. Yard do well in bumpers at the track, tick. So at 40/1 JUST BOBBY has to be worth a few euros each way. The negatives are that it looks a pretty hot contest and the yard are not exactly on fire but at the price you are not going to get a certainty are you. Just Bobby is a half brother o he pretty useful Carrie Cathal who found only Presenting Percy too good on his bumper debut and Award Winner who won his bumper.
Like the look of bubba and squeak for the skeltons at wetherby , two entries for the bumper will it be be Bridget or Harry?
3.30 LINGFIELD- STEPPER POINT - 6/4 Not the price of bumper kings selection but a winner is a winner. And a wheelbarrow Job is a wheelbarrow job! And this imo is one. Another drop down in a class for this horse who in 2015 was a G2 winner. Seemed to be a regressive horse last year and showed tonne going the wrong way. However his reappearance at Chelmsford seemed to show he holds some of that 2015 ability. He drops down to a class 4 and this seems to be a confidence plot for the horse to be able to get his head in front! Had a few of the field behind him lto and no reason as in to why they should overturn the form with him!
I wouldn't expect you to reveal all your boxes stick but out of interest how many are there (or how many doesn't this one tick)?
I say Stick, my old love, I’m very disappointed that you didn’t say – 're my Bumper pick today Itsnonofurbusiness'. To which I’m sure one of the lesser lights would have responded huffily, ‘If that’s your attitude, stuff it!’ Opportunity missed. In all seriousness though I was expecting you to put up Harefield’s year older half-bro in that heat, Minella Warrior. Not for me though as I subscribe to the theory that Kim Bailey couldn’t train Ivy to grow up the wall. Now there’s today’s debate sorted. Which trainers do you think couldn’t train Ivy (lovely girl incidentally) to grow up the wall??? In the NH sphere it has to be the above mentioned Mr Bailey plus Oliver Sherwood and Jonjo O’Neill. They get the odd one right but mess it up with countless others. No-one really stands out on the Flat as I think you get found out much quicker, in that sport, and the owners are a lot more 'cut throat' - if you don't deliver the goods sharpish, horses are moved very quickly. Good luck all.
Just had a look at that Bumper stick. Certainly does look above your average bumper. Surprised in a way that you haven't gone for Itsnonofurbusiness. I've been drooling over that pedigree, by Flemensfirth out of Moon Storm who is by Strong Gale and out of a Deep Run mare. Just look at what Flemensfirth has produced, and he is by the brilliant Ribot descendent and Arc winner, Alleged. And Deep Run's produce included Morley Street, Granville Again and Mole Board. I think the Skeltons may have picked up a useful one here. Also there is one who ran respectably on début in a listed race. Yes, this is a tough race and if your horse wins this we should erect a statue of you and place it in the entrance of your Spanish villa.
I do agree with some of your points especially the flat! And could name a few! But the three national hunt trainers I find a tad harsh, with Cheltenham gold cups, Grand nationals a champion hurdle and numerous big handicaps some more recent than others not too shabby for a bad bunch
If you throw enough darts, old boy, the odd one or two will hit the target. In all seriousness I’d have no faith in any of them. All of Mr Bailey’s major, major success was over 20 years ago, whereas Oliver Sherwood’s (bar one horse) was similarly yonks ago. I’m not suggesting anything but could it be that following incredibly good staff member(s) leaving the true merits of this pair came to light?!? Meanwhile, O’Neill has to be the ‘Godolphin’ of NH Trainers. Has a stable full of expensive blue bloods yet what he actually delivers is woeful. I’d wager Mr McManus either has a crush on him (which wouldn’t be unusual give his feelings for his ex-jockey) or O’Neill has some dirt on him! If it was in any other line of business he’d have been thrown out of ‘Jackdaws’ years ago.
Have you ever heard of the Mole Board conspiracy theory?!? Bit before my time (I was still in short trousers) but the whispers are legendary - especially locally. Amazing to think that the chap concerned is now a stipendiary steward and a mover and shaker at the BHA.
Yep. That's the other one I was referring to Bob. If I was betting in the race I would dutch the 2 but it's basically evens the pair against the field which is not very good odds in this race.
As we're all having a go at the bumper I'll chuck in Danseur Du Large. Martaline is doing really well as a NH sire and the dam side of Danseur Du Large's family includes Turcagua who is a decent performer for that W. Mullins chap. About the only winner Longsdon has had recently was Snow Princess in a bumper so at least he hasn't forgotten how to win.
