Flat: Doncaster, Newbury, Wolverhampton, Dundalk NH: Fakenham, Newcastle All about 1 horse for me tomorrow - Charlie Longsdon's Vulcanite in the 3.05 at Fakenham. Now owned by JP McManus and McCoy takes the ride, he makes his handicap debut off a mark of 134. With decent efforts in some top-class novice hurdles last season, this race looks well within his scope and the early 9/4 on offer with Bet365 tonight looks a very, very juicy price.
For anyone looking at the 3.50 Doncaster, 8 of the last 9 renewals have been won by a 3 year old (did not have a representative in 2003). Massive stat to keep on side.
Hopefully Vulcanite kicks on this year Oddy. Always a difficult time of year to bet at the moment as you never quite know who will need the run. However surely they can exploit this sort of mark sooner or later. I thought he was going very well in the Supreme before weakening out of it late on.
Im very interested in DANEKING 11 /1 ROTO. Been on the premises throughout, still gradual development left in him IMO but more importantly should handle any cut up at Doncaster today. Bill Buick rides the track well too.
Oddy, I can't agree with you about 9/4 being a juicy price for Vulcanite in what is a very, very competitive handicap. Marodima reached 150 over hurdles and then deteriorated down to 121. Recent chasing efforts have rejuvenated him but his mark of 134 may be too much. Grey Soldier has a similar profile to Marodima and returns to hurdles, but was disappointing over sticks and tries hurdles again off a mark 11 lbs lower than previously achieved. Laudatory and Kayaan have much the same chance on the book- after their run behind Local Hero at Market Rasen. However, there are a couple lower down the weights which appeal more..... After very moderate efforts over hurdles last season, Porgy ran well on the All-weather before going back over timber recently. After a good third at Catterick, he has won his last two races- giving 7lbs and a beating to odds on favourite, The Romford Pele, at Market Rasen. The latter did not let the form down when a decent second behind Court Minstrel at Cheltenham last week. He will be a big danger to them all. However, there could be a real 'fly in the ointment' in this race. Cheshire Prince. After winning his final race of 2010 at Sandown, he only ran twice last season, and obviously had training problems. Last month he left Neil King's stable to join Amy Downie's small operation. On his first run at Stratford, he started at 80/1 and cruised up to join the leader at the second last- looking full of running. Unfortunately he skewed on landing over the jump and unseated his rider. Having watched the race, he looked very unlucky and would certainly taken a big hand in the finish. Today, he runs off the same mark of 120 and useful claimer, Michael Byrne, takes off his 5lbs claim. He should have little to fear from Laudatory who was 6th in that race at Stratford- and is now 7lbs worse off. Although Porgy has a big chance, I am hopeful Cheshire Prince will run a big race at long odds. Certainly worth an each way bet. Cheshire Prince. Best Price 33/1 (Bet 365).
Best of luck with Cheshire Prince Tam - a horse I have done my nuts on several times in previous years. I'll get back to you on your last PM soon - got the mother-in-law stopping with us at the moment so free time is at a premium
Oddy, good morning over there in sunny Berlin! Agh...the mother-in-law! I had mine living with us for a while. She used to follow my wife around all the time- even sat in my place on the bed when I'd gone for an early-morning piddle! But one morning when I lurched into the bathroom to relieve myself, she was standing there with a bath towel round her; casually dropped it to the floor; and smiled. My eyes popped out of my head and I just did a Heineken! And she was about 80 years old at the time! So be careful, Oddy, you never know what's coming next! Coming back to equine matters, obviously Vulcanite has a good chance, but my fancy just could go close, even though I don't usually like bad luck stories.
Ron, if you are about can you tell me if you have done some deal with MOBIREWARDS.ORG as everytime i click on to not606 on my iphone it goes straight to this bloody site telling me im in with a chance of winning an iphone5......is anyone else having this problem or can they help me block it out from switching off the confounded thing
Jeez Tam, I'm sat here really hoping that was senility on her part. Or did she really have the hots for you? The problem I have is that my wife and mother-in-law never stop talking. They're at it from dawn till dusk and way beyond. So I get home from work, tired out and just wanting a bit of peace and quiet and "feierabend" but I'm expected to sit there and "chat" with them. Yet when I do join them, they just ignore me and carry on their conversation, with me resigned to the occaisional nod or "hmm, yes". About the most boring thing I can imagine.
Lovely bit of analysis Tam. I had a look at that race last night and agreed that it looked a bit of a minefield whereby I couldn't really discount any of the runners. Watched Cheshire Prince's last race back and I think your on to something, especially as it was his first start for 16 months. Having a lazy day so I'll have a pop at that e/w
First time in a long time I've put one up on the DT but quite like the look of KIWAYU in the 3.50 @ Donny. Hopefully get my reasons on here later! Hope all is well, looking forward to the jumps starting up!
ginge - i have been having the same issue with the site! I guess you just need to stay permanently logged in! Not something Ive done as it pops up before I get logged in! Still at home on pc just now and sorry to hear someone else having same issue! Cant get tips when Im at work
the 3 from Reveleys are fit and well, James riding out 3 times a day and hopeing to hit the season running, ive been told all 3 will place at least stay frosty
Delighted to see that TATANIANO is indeed back tomorrow people, across the old border at Chepstow (4.50), with the Ruby boy set to do the steering. It’s going to be tough for the old boy off a perch of 163 though, conceding lots of weight to several good horses and on his first start for 12 months. But do you know what, I say what?? I think he might just bally do it!
Tour D'argent 13/8 traveled really well on debut over the big fences lto despite hitting pretty much every fence before getting one completely wrong and ending up on the floor. He should have learned from that and will have come on for his debut, if he gets round he will win, not overly impressed with the favourite despite him winning on chase debut lto.
I think the Listed contest at Dundalk tonight is possibly the most difficult race to solve that I have ever seen! You have the class act in Starspangledbanner who looked as if he retained a lot of ability in a Group 3 two starts back since returning from failing at stud, Balmont Mast making absolute mince meat of the very talented and reopposing Nocturnal Affair when apparently only 80% fit. Then you have the two English invaders in the shape of legends Kingsgate Native and Borderlescott. Katla, the conquerer off subsequent Group 2 winning Maarek, lines up and looks to have bounced back to form in a big way whilst Roicead is a horse I think has enough ability to win this but hasn't shown what he can do since joining Willie McCreery in two starts this year. Chuck in the fascinating 3 year old Nero Emperor who made a long lasting impression when scoring just over a year ago over C+D and the two unexposed 2 year olds Zoola and Liberating and in my opinion its the minefield of all minefield. If anyone can find the winner of this the fair ****s as I couldn't even begin to dissect this!
