I was supposed to be going to York this afternoon on the train with a mate of mine so we went to Hull station and got the tickets and stood on the platform for the 11:47. This then came up on the board as ‘Delayed’ about two minutes before it was due to depart. Twenty minutes later it was announced that it was cancelled because of an obstruction on the line. You would never know that it was extremely windy today.

So I am now in the pub to watch proceeding on my tablet. I see that my fancy in the first has been hammered off the boards and is now favourite, so thankfully I did not waste my time on the train trying to assess that race for a bet. My mate fancied Alsakib in the Lonsdale Cup for an each way but that has been hammered too. I also fancied Bradsell in the big sprint and that one has more than halved in price.

3f out there were just 2 sitting with a double handful, Vauban and the one at the back, Al Nayyir? and they finished 1st and 2nd. Would be interesting to know the odds in running at that stage

I would have been happy to lay the fav in the Gimcrack but could have never guessed the winner. Presumably a poor Gimcrack?

Almost anything could win the Nunthorpe. Most of them have run to very similar times at some point so it could be down to who gets the best luck in running and who gets bad luck in running. At 9/1 with Ryan Moore back in the saddle it has to be Believing ew for me

Looked to have no chance but ran an absolute cracker to get 2nd. Surely wil win a decent handicap at some stage. Well done QM

I knew Bradsell had that won at halfway as Hollie Doyle was the last one to actually get to work on her mount. After the rain the course record was always going to be safe despite the waffle. I never had a penny on it – it was at least a 4/1 or 5/1 shot in my book so once the price had collapsed to 7/2 I left the race alone.

A great job by Archie Watson to get the horse back to the top table. Only ten races on the clock now. Still more to come hopefully. There cannot be many that have come here after winning a Deauville Listed race.
