If the Mayan calendar is to be believed this is the last days racing we will ever see. It comes from Ascot over the jumps with Lingfield, Wolverhampton and Dundalk offering Polytrack fayre. Several interesting races at Ascot despite the small fields and heavy ground. In the 1.20 I like Colin Tizzard's Jumps Road. He has proven form on heavy at Ffos Las over hurdles and he is pitched into handicap company after just 1 run over fences, I think because connections like what they see and think this could be a decent mark. A nice double for shortie-lovers is Puffin Billy and Simonsig - both should win with the minimum of fuss. In the 3.05 the unpronouncable Venetia Williams horse should go well and possibly the most interesting race on the card may well be the bumper where Mr Henderson runs a John Magnier owned Westener gelding in Captain Cutter. Up against him is David Pipe's ultra-impressive Plumpton winner Kings Palace (remember Stick waxing lyrical about him) and very interesting runners for Phillip Hobbs and Charlie Longsden. Should be a cracking card.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the world ends at 11:11 tomorrow? In which case the 7.30 at Kempton tonight would be the last race.... Pharoh jake runs....were Pharohs around in Mayan time?? Got to be worth a bet! Put everything you own on it then get to the sacred mountain in France to be saved from destruction then go crazy with your winnings tomorrow!
I did put a tenner on, just felt I had to lol if I lose oh well! Whats the worst that will happen (I crack myself up haha)
It's ok LAYING the end of the world - but if you bet on it and win ...... who you gonna collect from? And where will you spend your winnings
Nice little bumper at ascot tomorrow to round the card off with a Magnier owned/Henderson trained blueblood a former bumper winner from the Longsdon yard and a decent horse of Pip Hobbs but no prizes for guessing where my hard-earned will be placed and thats on the back of the horse I described as one of the most impressive bumper debutantes I have ever seen KINGS PALACE 3.40. He absolutely bolted up at Plumpton with McCoy not moving a muscle. He ran right away from his field without breaking sweat. Currently 20-1 for the Festival bumper from an opening 25's though far from certain to take that route. I hope he does as I am already on for small money. We will find out tomorrow just how good he is. In the 3.10 I will be having a dabble on SUNNY LEDGEND 14-1 who has some cracking form in the book. He won first time up last season so the lack of a run doesnt worry me much but my enthusiasm is slightly tempered by the fact that he is going further than ever before and has yet to race on Heavy going.
Pharoh Jake If anyone's still around tomorrow and wants a loan I'll be on the scared mountain of Pic De Burgarach in the South of France!
Seriously Nass I think he is about 6lbs higher than the mark I could see him winning off. He seems to save his best for Cheltenham and I dont think the heavy going will help his cause. Dougie on him for the first time though which is interesting. I rate him and he often gets a tune out of a horse that others have failed on.
I saw Sunny Ledgend when he won at Towcester, he is a lovely looking horse who could make a nice handicapper in time, I am a bit surprised that they are not going chasing as he has the scope to jump a fence and could farm a few of those novice races which are banded on handicap ratings over hurdles. I am really tempted by PAC tomorrow, looks fairly weighted to me, and I don't rate a good few of the field.
I dont think its as competitive as it first looks either mate but I still believe that he is a few pounds too high in the weights though I would rather my tip were getting weight than giving. P&C's best form is some way above this but he isnt as good as he was. Wouldnt put you off backing him each way. Glad I held off backing Claret Cloak for the Ladbroke too as the ground has put paid to his chances. I have a real fancy in that now!
I have a free bet in the 1.35 and you all know which one I have put it on. Hopefully he can pay for my Christmas again, like he did with the Captain back in the day. The horse has no form, but it is in a handicap for the first time, has a good draw and lets face it, it is a shocking race. He is also related to some very useful sorts and I like pulling at straws. 1.35 Armada Bay @ 25/1
Another straw for you Nass.....it's had it's knackers removed since it's last run! Is it really Smarts first 2yo runner at Lingfield.....surely not?!?!
He seldom sends any horse down to Lingfield, and as you say, he has hat the cut. I have yet to find a juvenile runner from the yard at Lingfield in the RP formbook. I must also admit that I have backed the two Larry Grayson horses with the peculiar booking of Jamie Spencer. Take a look at the jockey stats for Larry, the one with 100+ rides without a winner isn't shocking is it?
Agreeing with Oddy re the chances of Venetia William's Duaiseoir in the Newbury 15-05, but going against Jumps Road in the 13-20 with Rouge Et Blanc (who's silks, confusingly are green & orange!) His form prior to this year is pretty awful, his liking for soft ground unknown, and he unseated early on LTO, but his win last time but one was VERY easy, and his jumping ok, considering his 2010-11 form. Worth a dabble at 7-1 BOG I reckon
