It looks like The Foxes is going to be my jinx horse this year. I have him in my ATR Tracker, he got beat in the Craven so I re-assessed the Royal Lodge as suspect form and the horse then wins the Dante when I opposed him. I am not convinced that the Dante is great form so now it is pretty much wait and see who shows up at Epsom.
The notebook will be out for the Michael Seely Memorial (2:25) as it contains two outstandingly bred fillies that won on debut. It seems likely that one of them will step up on that on their way to better things. Will it be Queen For You (Kingman ex Fallen For You) or Silver Lady (Sea The Stars ex Lumiere)?
The Yorkshire Cup (3:35) has attracted a small but select field and cases can be made for and against several of them. Aidan O’Brien’s Broome won the Dubai Gold Cup over two miles at Meydan but was very expensive to follow last season, only winning the Hardwicke. He beat Siskany at Meydan but that one is 3lb better off today, which ought to be enough to turn around the neck margin of defeat; plus the Godolphin horse has won at this trip. Hughie Morrison’s Quickthorn was only sixth at Meydan and has disappointed a couple of times since his last win, a widw margin victory in the Londsale at this track. The most interesting runner is returning St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov, who also won the Queen’s Vase at this trip last term. He subsequently ran poorly in the Long Distance Cup on Champions’ Day but if he is fit enough to do himself justice, he may be the play at reasonable odds.
