Today we see racing at Cheltenham, Haydock Park, Redcar by the beach and across the sea AW racing at Dundalk.
3 for me today, looking dodgy at Haydock so heavy ground runners required: 300: Key Ambition looks a nice price at 12s for an EW shot, ran his best race in the soft and many others in the race have not faced soft conditions. 335: Tom Tate horses generally love the softer ground so Key Appointment should get backed and if this is the case he will go well. 410: Zakreet really enjoyed the heavy conditions at Ayr so with top jock Phil Makin aboard he is the NAP and 5s looks very fair indeed. Be Lucky all
Morning Gary. Was just going to start a Daily Thread myself as it seemed to have been forgotten in all the pandemonium. Marvellous to see Cheltenham racing again and browsing the cards I've had a few thoughts as follows: 2.10 Cracking novices hurdle where I'm not even going to attempt a selection - watch and enjoy 2.45 Can't for the life of me understand why For Non Stop is so short and I'll be taking him on with Jolly Roger who has the benefit of winning experience over fences and has the weights in his favour 3.20 After his abortive try at novice chasing Russian War is back over hurdles and is of interest, even off a mark of 149. Expect Carberry to be motionless coming to the last. This looks like the start of Buena Vista's annual target of getting his handicap rating down for the final in March. 3.55 Mad Moose is an improving horse who looks very well in at the weights here. 4.30 I like the Tompkins and Curtis runners against the very short jolly. 5.05 Peter Bowen has had a tremendous summer and I just have a sneaky feeling that Quattrocento may go close today having been dropped a couple of pounds by the handicapper to 118. He won this last year off 113. 5.40 Marvellous to see young William son-of-Twister back in the plate after his injury and I will be having a play on Baccalaureate (NAP) who hosed up under brother Sam last time out and William's claim negates the penalty.
I really like For Non Stop as a future prospect but I agree with Oddy, today he is far too short against a more experienced, possibly fitter and certainly more battle hardened field. I hope he wins and makes great strides over fences but I can't back him today. In the 3.55 I have the feeling that its all about who jumps the best and stays the best, its a race in which so many like to front run and I think they will go a proper pace. Mad Moose is vulnerable to bad errors, but so are the rest of the field!! Its not a betting race for me but I wouldn't be surprised to see a horse trade very short in running before being beaten in a finish. I really like the Nicholls horse in the last but again its too short on seasonal reappearance, it to me looked like a future winner in waiting when it ran at the festival and I also thought it would be better with another summer on its back. Its out early which suggests that its improved and I think its probably on a fair handicap mark. (Gaz did it fit the trends at the festival btw?) Therefore I go to the 5.05 for my nap - Earth Planet Its race fit, its in good form and it has won around Cheltenham. The ground is fine for it and this to me looks absolutely ideal for him.
morning all i with Nass on Earth Planet had the nod for Davey O's Cool Rhythm @ wind swept ingrid bergman kiss Redcar (extea point if you know where the lyric is fron, no google please) doubled this with Cats Hot Pot im sure he will be on soon stay frosty
Danbo, I would never admit to knowing a lyric from a Beautiful South song. Honestly the shame. (not googled so may be wrong {hopefully I am })
Morning gents... Well what a difference a day makes... Only just finished reading yesterdays posts on the Hughes Thread, and its a good read to... Oddy, im with you on Baccalaureate, one ive been going with on his last 7-8 runs... And yes its the opening fixture at Cheltenham... Hoorah...!!! As for the weekend its chock-a-block with potentially great sporting moments... Though i look forward to seeing the jockeys going around the parade ring at Ascot on saturday waving strike banners...
I know the yard think a lot of Court In Session who runs in the 4.30 at Cheltenham. He kind of fell to pieces in the last race but if reproducing bumper form has a better chance than the 12/1 odds suggest. Just a modest each way bet for me today.
Three for me: Chelt 2.10 Oasis Knight each way At around the 20/1 mark this horse is great value against the two big guns. Only 6 in the race makes the each way tough but this horse was rated 104 on the flat in 2010, he may have disappointed in his hurdling career to date but he retains ability and will love this ground and can make the front two work hard I think. Chelt 2.45 Jolly Roger each way Proved his wellbeing with a win around Ludlow a couple of weeks back, another who loves quick ground and at around 8/1he represents great each way value in a race that centres around a talented but short favourite. Chelt 3.20 Traffic Article each way Gordon Elliotts charge is nmy idea of the winner here but at around 4s the insurance of the place can be backed as well. Ultra consistent and a rare Irish horse who goes well on a fast surface, still appears novicey on occasions and has had a busy Summer schedule but comes here fit and if taking to Cheltenhams undulations I think is the one to beat. Good luck
Morning all - I didn't need to google - the song is Good as Gold Stupid as Mud. Just one for me today - my old fave Daytime dreamer in the 4-20 at Redcar. No rhyme or reason for this - it won me a packet last year and I back him blind now.
Morning all found a job eventually so very happy and can fit in with my studies as well as the job is IT related . Hope you are all well going to celebrate with a decent punt on ROCK OF DEAUVILLE in the 5.40 at Cheltenham. I honestly do think this could be seriously well in off a mark of 116. Ryan Mahon takes off 3lbs and Paul Nicholls gave this horse a strong mention in his stable tour. If anyone has a a comment from Nicholls regarding his chances today could you please copy over ? before I place this bet would like to see what he has to say
RV, he probably has it in his column on betfair. Job in IT? You stealing copper cables again? well done!!
Morning RV - congratulations. Good luck on Rock of Deauville - must say i'd rather be on Baccalaureate but I probably won't back anything.
Nass Programmer - not great pay to start but it is something and can still study better than sitting around stressed all day. Got Nicholls column cheers - will back ROD now doesn't put me off with what he had to say Chippy
Nice one RV and good to see you back on here. I tell you what mate, that Fresh Meat just gets better and better, brilliant episode this week with some really funny stuff from Howard: "I can't do sport as I suffer from athletes foot. One of the world's great ironies" I always kill myself laughing at JP as well
Odddy I was feeling really stressed at one point to be posting on forums taking the mick out of people and punting . Really happy now though HAHAHA Fresh Meat is fantastic yepp Howard and JP the best. Jack Whitehall is superb as JP mind don't usually like him either.
Nice one RV and really good to have you back. Now - where's your post calling Richard Hughes a big Irish baby who should keep his effing mouth shut and learn to ride a horse properly instead of threatening to reitre like a mug **nt ?
