Hello, hope everyone well. Really like 2 running, at Aintree, of the morrow, team.

SANTINI (4.40) will hopefully win his first Grade 1 in the 3 mile novice hurdle. Has performed with great credit this term winning twice (at Newbury and Cheltenham. The latter a Grade 2 affair in which he got the better of subsequent Ballymore runner-up, Black Op.) before finishing a close 3rd in the ‘Albert Bartlett’ at the Festival. I would expect him to reverse Cheltenham form (1.5 lengths to make up) with OK Corral tomorrow (things could have gone a lot more smoothly for Santini at Cheltenham plus he was given a bit to do by his pilot) and on official ratings the selection is the joint highest rated – and from here on in I can only see him Improving with a capital ‘I’. Win, lose, or draw of the morrow though I think Santini will be a superstar when sent over the big ‘uns next term.

Earlier in the week I recommended KILCREA VALE (4.05) as a stonkingly stonking each-way bet, to the dear old regular readers at 25/1, on other threads. Won’t bore everyone senseless by repeating myself here but simply say see previous posts for the jolly old rationale.

    Good luck, troops.

2.20 Aintree - MINDS EYE- 20/1 ew - Backed him for the supreme after watching his win at Leopardstown over 2 1/2 he absolutely bolted up but looked like 2m was his trip. Howver he ran the ballymore and if you watch the race again he didn’t do too badly better than the bare result. Pulls very hard in he race as he does and was still travelling well 2 out but then got tired. Jumps well too and apart from the fav no one has stood out. The drop back in trip will suit!! Is the right price imo but some cracking ew value in him tho

Never seemed to get into his rhythm at Cheltenham. I am sure he will be much better tomorrow. How the hell can Ms Parfois be shorter?

The Foxtrot horse, HOGANS HEIGHT, deserves a chance at this level. He is a super jumper and quotes of 50/1 are frankly insulting!

I'm already on with a small ew, Stick! Based on nothing other than the fact I used to know a really tall guy by the name of Hogan (and I've had too much to drink).

    Reassuring he's one of yours!

Not my place to question the bumper King, but with Danny Kirwan so short now I'm seriously tempted to throw my lot in with Pym. 8/1 looks enormous about a horse only beaten 2l and better weighted.

Admittedly watching the replay of that race DK certainly looked to have a lot more left in the tank. I can see 2 lengths really flattered Pym. Still though, these prices look a bit unrealistic to me. Pym looks value, even for a place only bet right now.

Mia’s storm for me - easily to forgive her last run at Kempton where she went off fav in front of much of this field when her jumping fell apart didn’t like the ground at all and hoping it will dry out abit but before that won a listed mares chase by 13l very impressively and looked on the up goes in to the race a very fresh horse. Gets the mares allowance which could be the key I think she will be very competitive

    Aintree 1.45 THREE MUSKETEERS e/w @ 16/1

Comes here a fresh horse having only had one run since last November. That effort came over fences at Market Rasen in January where he finished 2nd,beaten 1 1/4l by Le Rocher(received 4lb).The 8yo has won over fences off 150 and reverts to hurdles again here off 138.By Flemensfirth so won’t mind soft in the going and can see this staying on well at the finish.

    Aintree 4.05 BOUVREUIL e/w @ 12/1

Always thought this one had a nice handicap in him.Unlucky in the Grand Annual at the Festival when brought down at the second fence.Placed in three previous Cheltenham Festivals including 3rd behind Road To Respect in the 2017 Brown Plate. That effort came off 145 and he’s in here today on 142.Still only a 7yo and arrives here a fresh horse.Any drying of the ground in his favour and can see this going close.

    Sedgefield 5.20 CLASSICAL SOUND e/w @ 12/1

Produced career best here last time when 4th,beaten just over 5ls.That effort came off 79 and two of the runners who finished in front of him that day were rated 93 and 97.A mistake two out that day also didn’t help his cause.Could improve greatly for this big step up in trip and nicely weighted on 10st5.

There has been quite a lot of rain, lots of standing water on the roads on my way to work this morning.
Yes, there's a river and a few miles between me and Aintree, but I reckon the weather has been pretty much the same over there for the last few hours.
It's going to be a slog today, chaps.
I'm staying clear of it, to be honest, so good luck if you play today.
