rasen,2 45:

modest fare, but a very tentative choice is BANTISS JACK.his second last start wasnt too bad, considering, the horses around him have won again.so,there might be a little race in him.

As the 14 races over the last 2 days at Chester have seen just one winner drawn in stall 1, I sincerely hope there will be no nonsense on here today about the effect of the draw in the Chester Cup <laugh>

In the first 3 races today stall 1 record is 1-2-1 <laugh>

Looks nailed on for Cleonte in the Chester Cup <ok>

This one won't make you rich but it really should be winning so the price is quite generous.

3:10 Ascot - Aplomb 3/1

Rather unlucky there, couldn't find a way through and was too late by the time it did. That's racing for you

well, the big one isnt too far away now,so heres my verdict:

WATERSMEET is apparently a better horse on sand, but hes shown more than once, that he can be competitive on the grass, and is 5 lbr lower on turf.not sure about the draw, but if he can get a good position early on,he wont fail for trying, and has stamina to boot.so,i can see this tough and hardy horse running a big race at big odds..

Well Johnston has thrown 4 arrows at this - I'm on what appears to be the stable choice in Austrian School, but a wide open affair.

For nostalgic reasons I fancy monthly at Chester . Yard coming into form, goes on any ground group winner running in a handicap. Only negative a long layoff to contend with.
Cheers.

Typical - on the wrong Johnston horse. Making Miracles - making monkeys of us <laugh>

It's a pity predictive text can't predict a winner!

Why the confidence if you don't mind my asking? It didn't even make my shortlist when looking at that race. Is it just a big fancy of yours or do you have some inside knowledge?
I'd have it between the top three in the market and if the surprise is to come from anywhere I'd throw Making Miracles out there as the upset

Would have been nice if I'd backed it. Left the race alone because I couldn't choose from 4!

I picked a Johnston horse but it was a dismal one. That looked like a ploughed field they were going through in the Chester Cup and they changed the going to Heavy after it. The time was 33 seconds slow and a couple of quid on an outsider seemed they play. Austrian School was desperately short at 3/1, that was no value for money at all in the conditions. All the previews for the race on ATR and The Racing Post were talking about how well in Austrian School and Cleonte were on the handicap marks but they were beaten 41 lengths and 16 lengths in conditions where handicap ratings were largely irrelevant. The final race on the card was over 42 seconds slow. It was almost like they were in another Time Zone.

Just been past the roodee on the train , it looks like glastonbury after three days of rain, the car park in the middle is a sea of mud ,tractors to tow them out , the track itself is a brown ring with bits of green flecks
