    Sedgefield 1.25 Meaghar's Flag

Trainer Sophie Leech has an eyecatching record in hurdle races at Sedgefield over the last 5 seasons:

    5 runs 3 wins 1 placed

    In non-handicaps:

    3 Runs 2 wins 1 placed

This horse was fairly useful on the flat for Jim Bolger. Not long with Paul Nicholls after that but the Leech yard often finds finds the key to horses that didn't lived up to expectations when with bigger stables.

Stable has had 1 winner and 2 horses placed last 14 days.

Meaghar's Flag 3rd place behind 143-rated Pacify and 123-rated Sea The Sea at Stratford 2 runs ago wasn't a bad performance in my opinion.

Meaghar's Flag entry for a novice hurdle at Lingfield on Monday with several recent winners in the line up suggests that connections must have seen something encouraging at home.

Will be interesting to see if there is some money going down on this one.

Maybe its interesting to know for you what the Leech yard writes about its runners today on their website:

"We have our first runners of the week on Friday, with runners at Sedgefield and Wolverhampton.

Up at Sedgefield, we have Meagher's Flag running in the Maiden Hurdle over 2m 3f 188yds at 1.35 with Richie McLernon aboard.

It's his first run in the UK since Stratford in September 2019 and despite the absence he should run well and would have each way claims on his best form.

On the all weather at Wolverhampton, Yasir chases an 8th course win in this 2m 120yd Handicap at 4.45 with Amelia Glass taking the ride.

He always runs his race and loves this track and can hopefully get another course win against his younger rivals."

Huntingdon abandoned, so 8 left this afternoon, plus 6 tonight.

After a good start this afternoon, , with Bertie Blake an all-the-way winner who was 16 lengths clear at the finish, it was downhill all the way from then on. The closest to a winner was Robaddan, 2nd 5/1, which should have won but was let down by his jumping. Everything else unplaced.

10.70 points lost on the day.
