London football club Tottenham Hotspur is poised to sign a €12m deal for Ajax' Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen, Nos television says on Monday.

Vertonghen has been at Ajax for nine years after joining the Amsterdam club as a 16-year-old.

Meanwhile, there is no interest in Ajax' troubled striker Mounir El Hamdaoui, according to news agency ANP. El Hamdaoui, 27, has been sidelined at the club since a public spat with coach Frank de Boer. His contract runs until 2014.

His stats are canny. Had two 20+ seasons at AZ before moving to Ajax where he did well in his first season. Think he'd have a point to prove after what's happened to him.
