Well the day of reckoning has arrived. Our Ted friends appear to have worked themselves up into a frenzy of bile and hatred over on their board, whilst we Gasheads appear to be rather more circumspect and pragmatic about the derby. That's to be expected. After all, we can't really lose. We're the underdogs playing away at a team that was in the 2nd tier earlier this year which has the likes of JET, Baldock and Shorey playing for them. If we lose we carry on with our league programme, if we win then great, we get further bragging rights. I'd like to see us playing the Teds in L1 next season, that must be the priority. As long as we compete and don't get thrashed I'll be satisfied. I also hope that idiots don't ruin the occasion, although some of the bile spouted by the red side appears to pander to the lowest common denominator from both camps. Up the Gas!
Sad about the emotions being stirred up by this. Some people really need to get a life. I'll be there and I desperately want us to win; but if we lose, hey ho, we'll get another chance next season in the league.
"We're the underdogs playing away at a team that was in the 2nd tier earlier this year which has the likes of JET, Baldock and Shorey playing for them. If we lose we carry on with our league programme" Excuses
I think the ****heads current frenzy is mainly because they haven't got over us beating them in the last competitive game. I'm at trashton tonight for what I hope will be a good game played in the right spirit and fans from both sides behave. If we get beat then so be it but I know what some of the reds get like when they lose.
Just got back from holiday in Frogland, so have no ticket for tonite. I've been having a look at the teds board and have to agree, they are breathing fumes of bile re the game. Surely that monster club with a £50 million budget shouldn't even consider losing to the blue and whites. The Rovers haven't won a game away, so they should be easy pickings, especially with half their first team in the treatment room. Having said that the City haven't won a game that matters at all this season, so perhaps they have reason to be a bit nervous. All that really matters is that both sides don't let the atmosphere get to them and put up a decent and clean game of football and leave the other moronic stuff to those prats who are not on the pitch.
Agreed So P49 and McGas are watching at Trashton, where is everyone else watching the game? I'm going down to a pub in Dursley with my mate who's a Leeds supporter and his father-in-law who's a lifelong Ted. I don't anticipate any trouble with him because: a, he's in his 70s b, he's a lovely old bloke c. He had a stroke last year. Anyone else watching with the enemy?
I finish work in 20 mins, home changed, to the pub then on to the game. I have been nervous all week but am quite chilled out now the big day has come. Hope the games a good one with both sides giving a good advert for local football. Obviously I hope Rovers win but whatever happens I hope the fans on both sides will behave. Enjoy folks
