Awful for all concerned. Security is largely better in British schools since Dunblane. Many primaries have parents who are banned from the site now. Luckily most of the parents where I teach are very reasonable, but like everywhere you get the odd exception to the rule.
Likewise I work in a very safe school but even here we've had some situations that could've blown up can't really say much but police were involved. Then there was that school in Leeds recently too. I've met some terrible parents we seem to have a generation where we have loads of parents who are incredibly irresponsible but whether that's really the case or whether it is because these things are more reported I don't know
