Just read that Karim Frei is off on loan to Cardiff,
somewhat surprised at this move, but i am sure MJ is trying to get him match fit.
Hope it works out for all concerned.

Hopefully they'll whip him into shape.
I think we've got a couple of youngsters who on the cusp of good things but don't seem to be progressing as they should. Does anyone feel the same?

Not everyone can progress at the rate Kaca has though Craving. I have no doubts that Frei will become an important player for us if given the chance. Cardiff are near the top of the Championship so he will be playing in a very good team in a very good league. Just look at some of the other wingers who excelled in the Championship (Walcott, Bale, Lennon etc)

However, I do get where you're coming from, just not in regards to Frei. I really can't see Trotta, Briggs or Stockdale lasting long here.

I think this is a good move for Frei and the Club. Following his longish lay-off with injury he's lost ground in the pecking order and was obviously a bit frustrated on Monday night playing U21 football. At Cardiff he'll get a chance to play in midfield (where I think he'll do best for us eventually) at a very decent level and with players like Whittingham.

PS His mate Briggsy has just gone on loan to Bristol City (see the 'Players on Loan' Thread) so they won't be too far apart.

It is only a one month loan so I suspect it's just to get him match fit.

In his club interview this week, Jol was talking about one month loans for the young players to give them first team experience. I imagine that is behind the spate of short loans - after all, it worked pretty well for Kaca last year and Frei is somewhat younger.

Should be a good loan for them. I'm going to have to take a trip to Ashton gate to see briggsy in action too
