just a hunch, but getting the likes of green, fabio, johnson, nelson, all these will cost nothing in transfers only wages, instead of spending out on twaio (3.5) , foster (5mil), samba (10mil) & a striker poss (5mil) to me it could be that they might just pay joey off & get rid so what they've haven't paid out will help pay him off.
they won't want him at the club but would not risk Prem survival just to pay him off. Agree with Sooper, offski in Jan on loan
The club seem to have side-stepped JB at the moment. Perhaps looking for things to die down and move on; accepting the fact it will be too expensive to sack him!!! I don't think our squad improvement should be hampered by thinking about how we can get around JB!! Improving the squad should be #1 priority and should be done despite JB (not because of him).
Fair point Jeff but i also think unlikely. I keep reminding people that we now have a sizeable hole in our squad due to all the players we released. We are a small club and our owners are businessmen who will not waste money. All we are doing now, is picking up the best of the free transfers and then come the 01 July we will probably add 3-4good purchases. Great business sense. We simply can't afford to go out buying 7-8 players. We all need to relax and have patience.
Sensible stuff. Our armachair friend Flyer wont like it though!. Has anyone else noticed their is not one picture of Barton in the whole brochure magazine, you get with the renewal pack?. Not that anyone cared but hee was our captain..not one pic!.Interesting
Agree with the size of our squad. I'd posted my concerns that we were getting carried away with the clearing out of dead wood (even though I had agreed with everyone who was let go) and that despite our certainty that Derry, Hill etc were on their way too it would be a good idea to keep some of the team to give a sense of continuity. Nice to see that they are both still staying and if we hang on to Adel and Ale comes back it won't be a case of "Who on earth is that!?" come the first home game! The August signings didn't really work out well (Young crocked, Traore out for ages, SWP not much cop and less said about Barton the better) and it took a while for the January signings to get going (Diakite sent off in first game, Cisse hero/villain/hero/villain/hero etc) so I can see some merit in Sparky bringing in a few older heads who have been around a while and know how the Premiership works. There is a lot to be said for youth (as Flyer keeps banging on about) but you get to have some wiles about you as you get older and it may pay to strike a good balance between youth (Adel, Mackie, Faurlin) and experience (Zamora, Hill, Derry) so perhaps the likes of Johnson & Nelson are going to be used to fill the gaps rather than try to find the next 17 year old wonder kid.
