    The thing is, there really is no such thing as a 'free transfer' in football.

    Agents take huge amounts of money from the 'purchasing' club.

    The player will get bigger wages (usually) and a signing on fee.

    All performance bonuses tend to be inflated also, because of the lack of a transfer fee. <ok>

    Good article and a fascinating read for one-and-all.
