All Prem: Green; Bosingwa, Cuellar, King, Figueroa; Kalou, Diame, Reo-Coker, Drenthe; Drogba, Berbatov. Meh.
Prem: (Based on talent, not taking injuries into consideration.) Jaaskelainen, Bosingwa, Woodgate, King, Aurelio, Hoilett, Hargreaves, Murphy, Petrov, Berbatov, Drogba.
I didn't pick Hoilett, because he's technically not free. A foreign side could sign him for nothing, but any Premier League side will have to pay a fee decided by a tribunal, because of his age.
my brain isnt working since the mini heatwave...hence my limited replies on here for the past few days...so ive no chanch of contributing to this article
i find things like this so stupid...god the football ruling bodies are pathetic....why is his age of relevence in the UK....but not abroad? the FA and money.
Europe: Butt (though think he's retiring), Miguel, Nesta, Chivu, Drenthe, Barnetta, Ballack, Muntari, Del Piero, Raul, Pizarro
I think it's a UEFA rule, but I could be wrong. If he was at a Spanish club, then the same would apply to teams in La Liga, if I remember right. Didn't realise Muntari was out of contract. He's an ex-Redknapp player... Has Chivu had injury problems or something?
I didn't actually realise Muntari played the last few months at AC until a few weeks ago. Gone well under the radar. Not sure with Chivu in regards to injuries, just read somewhere he was out of contract soon.
chivu? inter milan? did he not score a goal from the half way line for em a few years back in the CL? or was that some Balkan fella? seems like we been after Muntari ever since i was born
He played more times for them in the second half of the season than he did for Sunderland in the first half! That's just wrong.
My thoughts exactly, surely worth a punt. He hasn't pre-agreed a contract with anyone either as far as I know.
He's rejected Leverkusen's offers and will definitely leave in the summer, apparently. Newcastle have been linked with him a few times.
Although he can do a job in the middle (which we have Parker, Sandro and Livermore for), he can also be played on the right to tuck in and allow Walker room to get forward. Bundesliga wages are also pretty low (Marin was on £45k per week, for example), so he could fit into our wage structure. Also, assuming we ship out Bentley and Sos Santos, that means our options down the right are Lennon, Kranjcar and Barnetta, so we have various tactical substitutions available.
A lot of these are just loans coming to an end, but here goes... The ones we should perhaps consider: Tranquillo Barnetta (Leverkusen, right/central midfield) Junior Hoilett (left wing, Blackburn) Dimitar Berbatov (striker, MUPLC) Andreas Isaksson (PSV, goalkeeper) Simon Poulsen (AZ, left back) Jeremy Berthod (Auxerre, left back)
Could you explain why you would want someone to do this, if i was playing someone on the right, i would want them to do their job properly, provide service themselves and allow Walker to defend and support.
Simple - if Lennon is being marked/kicked out of the game, bring on Barnetta as an equalizer down the right whilst allowing Walker to get forward.
