Just having na quick look and I would like us to sign Clark Carlisle. He had a brillient game against us when we played Northampton at the end of last season
Sorry I put up the url but hadn't realised it had already been posted. I always try and speculate who we could sign but we always end up with players that surprise me! I know it's a long shot but if we could somehow convince Vine to come visit I would be very very pleased!
Alex Bruce would be great, released by Leeds and with his fathers link to the club maybe just maybe he would join us, he is a good player in my eyes aswell, average at Championship level but if we offered him something good maybe we could get him, would be good to make our defence strong and at no cost, him and Essam would be good at centre back then have Fuller at Right back if he is still at the club and maybe find someone new for left back. Fitz Hall or Sonko would not be bad, if we got someone who could attract these players then it would be great. Anthony McNamee is a good player, last at MK Dons would give us someone extra in midfield or I am not sure if anyone would like him but what about Jason Euell, may be knocking on a bit but he could do a decent job, give him a years contract, he could get us promoted. There are a few others on there which I think would be good if we could get them cheap.
I agree with you on Mcnamee Hoadie, has always impressed me. Bruce in my eyes is a bit optimistic and don't think he will drop down a division, plenty of championship teams who would be keen to take him on i'm sure. It all depends on the manager obviously, which is partly the reason why i'm keen for Constantine to come in, his contacts in the game are very impressive and our scouting range will be vastly expanded. Think we should utilise the option to loan more this year early on, lots of hungry youth players out there who make their names in league 2, another Cody would do just fine.
I think our focus should mainly be on the defence as Midfield is strong, only back ups are needed, attack is good, Kedwell and Birchall should do well and Miller is progressing well so only someone else to sit on the bench and compete with the others is needed and Gazza is great and we only need a new keeper if he sadly leaves so we should focus on defence and bring in 2 centre backs as King, Lawrence and Richards left, but I don't think we need 3 as Essam is like a replacement for one of them as he was not in the team at the start of the season and a left back is needed aswell. I think 3 defenders a midfielder and 1 or 2 strikers would do, with 2 strikers going in the summer we may need to 2 replace them but with Birchall back and Miller doing well to get in the team we may only go for 1 but if I was choosing I would go for someone who is good and experienced, preferably around the 28 years old who has a good record at the League 1 or 2 level and then I would also sign someone who is rated high 18 or 19 and is good in front of goal, that would be the best choice in my opinion.
Alex Bruce is a fairly poor Championship defender. Can't man mark for toffee and has an uncanny knack of letting high through-balls bounce a few yards in front of him and allowing strikers to get on the end of them. He'd also want a fair few grand a week, i.e. Championship wages, because he believes his surname elevates his status.
Sheesh, maybe we need to open up a separate silly season thread when talking about possible new players. We do indeed live in a Football Manager world. Was extremely unlikely to bare any fruit anyway but Gavin Tomlin has signed on a one year deal for Southend.

Really annoying that he has gone there but I can't blame him, if that was me I would not be waiting around you have to take the offers available, would have been good to have 2 local strikers upfront and also Birchall is quite local so it would be good for the club.
My 5 picks Mickey Flynn- could come on and solve the problems we have in the centre of midfield, could do a Spiller, come back and really be an asset Sam Wood- very good left winger in my opinion and goodness knows we need some wingers! Fitz Hall- drooling over the idea of a partnership between Hall and Essam, bit optimistic but may want to come, Danny ****tu or Sam Sodje would also be a good signing. Freddy Eastwood- could be a hero at the Priestfield, would also be a good dig at southend, they steal tomlin, we steal Eastwood! Would like to see the new manager have a crack at getting Vine on a full time deal as I was really impressed by his sheer quality Gavin Hoyte- looks a very good player and could really fill the right back gap that was evident last season. Thoughts?
I said about ****tu and Hall, they are good players. Would love the fans making a song about ****tu, would be productive. Hoyte, I don't know about him, at the age of 16 he looked like he would be a real star but he has down hill quicker than a car with a faulty brake, so that's a no from me.
