Might be the fact that we have a decent manager with a good reputation within the game, and also the lack of the 'clegg factor'!

I'm really buzzing at the moment about ITFC and the season ahead.

Me thinks at least 95% is down to that twot Clegg not being here any more, thats not taking credit awsy from mm but i recall Roy and Jewell got players at the ground like Austin but Clegg screwed things up!!!

I think it's a combination of things really. Tbh I don't think Clegg was probably such a big sticking point as people make out as after all he was really only ME's puppet. And I think part of it is also that Mick keeps transfer dealings pretty private, we have no idea who we've missed out on unlike Jewell who opened his mouth all too frequently.

To me it seems down to more the type of player we are targeting, think MM is being a bit more realistic (or less ambitious) with his targets, Jim, Keane and Jewell all went after sought after players, who perhaps alot of other clubs were in for and also seemingly targeted players who were after a good wage. Now most of our players have been released from teams or were not wanted by their clubs. Jim, Keane and Jewell (particularly Jim and Jewell) generally went after players who were key players in their present team.

Got to disagree PTC, There are plenty of stories going around from cast iron sources within the walls of portman road that players have been at portman road, the deal has been agreed and then cleggy has moved the goalposts (and probably painted them aswell) and the deal falls through.

seems to be the case if a player comes to portman road, they sign nowadays!

although in the few years he was chief exec, we signed more players than anytime in our history!!

This Veseli looks a very good signing, I'd say Micks best so far

But not the ones we were after.

Welcome to Town Frederic, another piece of the jigsaw falls into place.

I must be the only person who has never heard of him
I came on thinking we had signed somebody that was proven to take us far then from reports we have signed someone who is promising but doesnt have any real track record.
It may well be my ignorance but why all the fuss?

He's a young, versatile player who will progress to be a first team regular, that's good enough for me.

Not all of the ones we were after anyway. Is it a shame we didn't get Chopra for the reported £4million Keane wanted to pay <yikes>

Admittedly I don't know alot about the guy but everything I've heard from Man U fans is generally very positive. Has a bit of quality about him on the ball, comfortable at fullback CM or CB although many have said he is a bit too slight for a CB, was earning rave reviews in the reserves last year and many can't believe he wasn't offered a new deal. I've heard he left Man City (despite being offered a contract) because he thought he had more of a chance of progressing at Man U.

PTC, it just seems very strange that he lasted at Man U for such a short time. The reports when they signed him (having google searched him) said he was possibly already ready for the first team. Its no disgrace not to make it at such a club and even if it doesnt work out here its low risk so I definately have nothing against the signing. It just amazes me that whenever I speak/ hear from other Town fans its this guy that is making the 'headlines'
