    Morning team toon

Just a curious article from me, where do you think Newcastle would be now if Freddy Shepherd was still in charge and who do you think our transfer targets would be?

This is a completely exploratory thread, only opinions matter cause I know even if Ashley didn't buy us we likely wouldn't still be under Shepherds rule.

My opinion is that under Shepherd we would be in the Chamionship, would have been last year, and would be next year. The money he was pumping in to the club would have dried up and we'd be in a massive amount of debt. Freddy would have overspent on fees and wages trying to get the club back to the higher elcheons of the Premiership but would be unsucessful doing so. I think this because of his blind ambition and naive leadership more than anything else. He wanted us to be a top club, that I do not doubt his passion, but he does not have the guile/skill/leadership/intelligence/finance to run our football club.

Not looking for a Freddy or Ashley bashing article here guys, just where you think we would be?

Where do I think we would be? About where we are now, but with a load of over-paid mercenaries, huge debts and no more money to do anything about it.

We wouldn't have a pot to piss in, yet would offer Woodgate, Hargreaves and the retired Dean Ashton £70k per week to play for us.

    1) We wouldn't have went down, due to Given, N'Zogbia and Milner not being sold at the same season.
    2) Allardyce might still be manager, but I admit that this is unlikely.
    3) If Allardyce was still boss, he probably have to do his Bolton modus operandi of getting freebies of 30+ year olds.
    4) The likes of Xisco and and that South American non-participant wouldn't have come.
    5) Some high value players would have went to help reduce the debt.
    5) We'd be where we are now, a mid-table outfit, just with more debt.

    I think we'd be near top 6-8.

No interest in signing young exciting players.

Would probably have a team similr to this...

    Owen - Adriano

    N'Zogbia - Nolan - Barton - Wright Phillips

    Enrique - Woodgate - Saylor - L. Young

    Given

Shepherd being notorious for huge name signings... Who were always past it.. :emoticon-0101-sadsm
