Our injury woes extend beyond the first team. I don't know any details yet but Frankie Sutherland was stretchered off in Orient's match this afternoon. Here are a couple of excerpts from the O's official website. And before long Orient were two in front. Good work from the lively Sutherland released Gary Sawyer wide on the left and the full-back drilled in a brilliant low cross It was turning out to be a busy day for the Club physios with Sutherland becoming the second man to be stretchered off after 38 minutes when he injured his right leg in a strong challenge, with Lloyd James coming on in place of the debutant who had had a solid match up until then.

Sutherland – who had joined the League One outfit on loan – was making his debut for Russell Slade’s side and was being watched by Senior Professional Development Coach Marc Bircham when he sustained the injury to his right knee. “He went in for a slide tackle and got whacked on the back of the calf, I knew he was hurt because he stayed down and that’s not like him,” Bircham told www.qpr.co.uk. “He was playing well, and I know the guys at Leyton Orient were over the moon with him. “Russell said to me that, ability-wise, Frankie’s the best loan player he’s ever had and, as soon as he’s fit, he wants to take him back again. “It’s a set-back for Frankie who is one of our brightest young hopes. Hopefully he can return from this fitter and stronger than ever. He’s only 19 so he’s young enough to do that. “We have got a good medical team here and they will help him through. One thing Frankie won’t be lacking in his recovery is determination because he is a dedicated lad who loves his football. “He’s got a good family around him who will support him, and we are all here to support him as well.” Sutherland will undergo treatment back at QPR.
