Lots of runners today, though most of them are across 2 maidens!
Special Envoy is an interesting debutant - a rare purchase by Juddmonte (sold privately after not making his reserve in the ring) from the family of Soviet Song

Very interesting race with 4 of the 7 entrants by Frankel. Will be interesting to see how Special Envoy does - saw him as a foal. Soulcombe is from the same family

I’m very interested to see what happens next for Nahanni. The form of his win at Epsom in the Blue Riband is working out very well:

4th and 5th have won since and the 3rd and 7th both finished 2nd on their subsequent starts. He’s best price 25/1 for the Derby which could be worth a little each way dabble.

Next scratching stage on 17th May.

I tipped him on the Derby thread I started. That Epsom Trial had been largely a non-event for years until Gosden started targeting it with good horses - his winners proved injury-prone until Cracksman won it in 2017 and I think the top trainers are starting to look at it as a very relevant Derby trial again. There are worse 25/1 shots quoted for the Derby than Nahanni (I think Appleby said he would go straight to the Derby after winning the Blue Riband Trial) and he certainly knows how to stick his head down and battle.
