On Twitter Jess is reporting that from 17 two year old runners this year, 16 have won or placed. This was always going to be his “weakest” crop due to classic “third-crop-itis” - most stallions suffer from this phenomenon where their book size and quality dwindles as they are 3 years on from finishing racing but their first runners have not yet hit the track.
The most amazing thing about these Frankels is that soppy piano music that starts in the final furlong - I wonder how they do that? #gettingabitfuckingmuchisntit?
I’d say the fact that he has reached 30 individual stakes winners faster than any other Stallion in the history of the Pattern is a pretty decent achievement!
Goffs Orby Yearling Sale got underway a short while ago, the second lot through the ring was a Frankel half-sister to G1 sprinter Kingsgate Native, selling for €500,000. There are 3 other Frankel’s set to sell before the end of the sale tomorrow including a full-brother to EAST who won so impressively the other day
It’s always worth keeping an eye on the TRC Rankings as they are not manipulated by prize money, but rather weighted purely on statistics and mathematics. To be ranked in the Top 5 at this stage of his career (he’s by far the youngest stallion in the Top 10) is not to be sniffed at. Galileo is the best stallion in the world, that is without question, but Frankel has made an unprecedented start to his stallion career and who knows, in 10 years time we might be calling Frankel the best stallion ever...
So, Cracksman is yet again not going to run in the Arc, the forecast is good to soft going, cannot understand it When it comes round to Champions day the ground could be good or good to firm, you cannot predict the weather.
They can't retire him fast enough it seems. Suspect they know he isn't good enough and are hoping he'll get soft ground against quick ground horse's in the Champion Stakes again.
Cracksman is a very good horse who, in my opinion, would be capable of winning an Arc, given some give in the ground. No discerning trainer or owner is going to risk their horse on unsuitable ground. It's a long time since it has rained over here so I can't believe the ground will have much give in it. Forecast rain for Saturday but whether it will be enough to soften it, given no rain forecast for Sunday, is doubtful. Other than that, it could be that they are so confident about Enable that they would rather try to get another G1 with Cracksman. The worst scenario is that he is still showing some disinterest, which would not do his stud prospects any good. Hopefully he turns up for the Champion in good form on suitable ground and shows what he is capable of
I agree that he is more than capable, what i do not understand is the ground atm is good to soft with heavy rain on Saturday. Something else going on i think.
Hmmm, quite possible chaos. I don't understand how the ground can be good to soft though. Have they been soaking it every day?
I believe they have been watering this past week, maybe with the heavy rain coming Saturday that is the predicted going, i just looked at the race card on Racing Post and it said going was good to soft, which is perfect ground for him. They still could have left him in till Saturday at least. So i've been on to the Paris forecast and it's raining from 17.00 on Saturday and all day Sunday.
