Think this guy could be a really, really big player for us and hope we don't lose him due to the lack of opportunities Wenger gives him. He was immense against a pretty strong Man City side and seems to be a very well rounded player (crisp passer, solid in the tackle, decent skill, etc). I certainly think he will have more to offer us than the other midfileders who are getting to start in the 1st team (apart from Song)
His first touch was top class against City. De Jong is a class DM and the amount of times Coquelin skipped past him was unreal. Also his energy is really good and a player that can easily play in a 2 man midfield.
Missed this thread - yes agreed Coquelin looks every bit as good as the other emerging young players coming into the first team. I think he'll get opportunities as he's playing a similar role to Song and Frimpong there's only really Eastmond who is also there too. I think he started out as a RB too, so he may also play there if needed.
He has potential, I've noticed he looks at his best going forward. When he's played as the lone DM he has'nt coped (man u) because he's not physically up to that role (yet at least). He actually reminds me of Denilson a little so its hard to see where he'll fit in while we have Song, Wilshere, Frimpong, Diaby and Arteta all capable of playing the dm role. Who knows maybe he'll be moved further forward? Frimpong is not as technically gifted as coquelin but he's more athletic, aggressive and better suited to the DM role.
I hope lack of opportunities wont discourage all the bright talents at arsenal because we have some seroius hungry talented youngsters who actually love the club and are willing to play for the club. No doubt that the Potential is there but only time will tell.
