You'd have thought there would be space for Cruyff or Platini somewhere. They both won it three times. Not denying he was a great goalkeeper, but there's not a lot of debate to be had around Lev Yashin, seeing as he's the only keeper to have won it.

I have just checked and Pele got some player of the century thing. Maradona also got an honorary award, although I assumed he must have won it when playing in Europe but seemingly not, rules changed after he stopped.

I reckon I would want Van Basten in my team.

I'd fancy some very average teams would beat that one.

Xavi was a wizard but he wasn't a one man midfield.

They should really have picked a common formation and picked the best player in each position.

I'm surprised they didn't leave out Yasmin and put in Ronaldinho.

Zidane not making the cut is also a bit of a bone of contention for me.

The tweet has a 3 4 3 formation, it didn't show up in my original post for some reason (unless you clicked the link)

Yeah but they haven't picked for that formation. They've just picked a 12 year old's dream team.

It's insanely attack minded. You can't fit Maradona and Pele into a midfield that has three forwards ahead of them for me.

If you swapped Messi and C. Ronaldo for Pele and Maradona, that would be a decent side, I think. A midfield of Xavi and Matthaus with Ronaldo and Messi out wide and then Pele and Maradona tucked in behind Ronaldo de Lima would be an awesome sight. Not the best balanced side maybe, but if you had those players at your disposal, you'd give it a go.

You certainly wouldn't struggle for goals.

But Maldini would pretty quickly develop ptsd.

To be fair it would be pretty entertaining seeing another team try and get the ball off them

It would be madness to watch, absolutely dazzling. I don't even think it would resemble football as we know it.

Especially not as we support Sunderland.

Crazy that you can make those changes to make it a **** load more conservative but it's still the most attack minded team ever assembled.

That's closer for me based on balance.

    Yashin

    Lahm - Maldini - Moore - Cashley

    Zidane - Matthaus - Cruyff

Messi - Fat Ronaldo - Best

Schmeichel, Beckenbauer, Cafu, Pirlo, CR7, Pele, Maradona on the bench.

Now no one say anything. Don't remind me that any other player exists because it falls to pieces.

Don't know much about CA, before my time. I considered Garrincha but if you put him and Best in a squad together they'd be shooting junk at half time.
