Following on from the Zayatte link - another ex player not doing well - albeit for another reason:-

Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell could miss the bulk of next season if he needs a second knee operation.
The former Manchester United frontman damaged his cruciate ligament in August last year and was nearing a senior comeback when he twisted his knee in training ahead of the Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester City.
We do fear for him," said Black Cats boss Steve Bruce. "We think the surgeon needs to go and have a look inside his knee again and if it does need repairing again, then Fraizer is going to miss the best part of next season as well, which is an even worse blow for us and more importantly, for the kid."
He added: "Nobody could have done his rehabilitation better than he did, but he fell over and twisted it on the Friday before we played Manchester City.
"The way it's going for us at the moment, we do fear that the boy might need another operation, and that could rule him out for the best part of next season as well."
With the Black Cats having sold Darren Bent to Aston Villa in January, Bruce heads into tomorrow's trip to Birmingham with only two fit senior strikers, Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck, who has himself only just returned from a knee injury.

Michael Turner has had major injury problems as well. What a player he was.

You would think sunderland would have changed their medical staff by now. They seem to have a freaky amount of injuries every season

Haven't we had a freaky amount of serious knee injuries in recent times? I can only remember Burgess, Lynch and Bullard off the top of my head but I seem to remember at one point it was a running joke that our medical staff coldn't spot dodgy knees because we had so many, oh Ashbee has had one or two as well, I'm sure there's been more though.

Garcia also did his knee, and after today's game, he could have ****ed it again.
