Given how well the conspiracy thread has gone I thought I would chuck this little gem into the mix <laugh>

I can include the list if you want ( but havent for the mo) but will definately include a list of MP's and associates that will benefit financially from fracking a bit later.

    How MPs voted on fracking

Here’s the list of MPs who voted for a fracking moratorium – or temporary ban on fracking – during the Third Reading debate of the Infrastructure Bill. 52 MPs voted in favour of a fracking ban, but 308 voted against, so fracking will happen.
Most Labour MPs abstained – which means they didn’t vote either way. If your MP abstained they don’t appear on this list. That means they didn’t vote against fracking.
MPs weren’t even given the chance to vote on changes to trespass laws, because the debate went on so long. This means changes to trespass laws will happen, so fracking companies can drill under our homes without our permission.

    WTF <yikes>

Fracking companies still need planning permission and environmental consents. Down here in West Sussex, the South Downs National Park won't allow fracking. So the solution may be lobby/harass your local planners if a fracking application goes in

Would that be Council planners from the Councils that Central Gov want to devolve more powers too whilst slashing their budgets!?

A golden opportunity for a few financial incentives to be chucked at a skint Council by a large Corporation then.........

Well something needs to be done to find a new energy source so it has to happen.
The very reason I have left the UK … France sells a lot of surplus energy to the UK who can't keep up with the Netflix subscriptions …people need to watch box sets now for up to 15 hours a day. My electric bill in France has risen to be fair … A yearly bill in the UK would run a house in France for 6 years. Whats more if the French were to charge my local village more then there would be a riot … that it because the ethic is still in place that big business does not rule government. The government works for the people whereas in the UK they work for themselves

A lot though Dave is due to France having Nuclear power stations as a means of clean cheap energy compared to the majority of UK power stations still relying on fossil fuel......Greener energy sources have to be made cheaper to make them economically viable and Government will have to re-instate grants to allow consumers to upgrade their heating systems.

Perversely, it is state owned French companies that are using the higher margins of profit enjoyed in the UK to subsidise, to a degree, their own domestic market.

It is also French companies that are applying for fracking licences in the UK despite the practice being outlawed in France.

The technology is already available for many greener forms of energy.

However, many of the large oil producing corporations own the patents and refuse point blankly to switch until oil has run out.

The USA, for example is sitting on over 2000 years worth of untapped oil currently.

Fracking or nuclear? While I like a good frack the intrinsic excitement of having multple sources of potential disaster, and certain problems for future generations in disposing of the waste, appeals to me. Go Nuclear!

I'm pure though, planning to get a wood burning thing for the living room. One day. When we get the chimney unblocked. Perhaps.

Pils - It's the system, hate the system, what's the system! 10 points for identifying the song.

Oh, and of course................"national security" too<doh>

The U.S. Patent Office has a nine-member committee that screens patents in order to protect “national security”.
An understandable reason for suppressing certain types of energy inventions is that the knowledge behind them is also capable of producing tremendously destructive advanced electromagnetic weapons such as the “death ray” apparently invented by Nikola Tesla. Hence many such new energy technologies, particularly those using this kind of knowledge of advanced electromagnetic principles, are considered “dual use” technologies that are among the 4,000 un-numbered patent applications confiscated in a vault at the US Patent and Trademark Office because of their military potential and the need to keep that knowledge from America’s enemies.
A hidden purpose of this committee is to also find and remove from public access energy-related patents which could threaten the fossil fuel and power monopolies.

Not very good at hiding their purpose then are they, if it's all over the interweb? One thing I can't stand it's a crappily implemented conspiracy.......

Got a mate that lives in France and he basically says the same. Although he did say he gets power cuts. I like the way people do favours for each other without always thinking of money.

    Bakken Formation.
The official estimate, contained in the USGS press release from last year, was a substantially smaller estimate of technically recoverable oil: 3 billion to 4.3 billion barrels.
