Good Morning Everyone, We start this morning with BREAKING NEWS...... Its Billy Paynters birthday.... What present would you get Billy, and why? Harry Kewell has been named best ever Australian player....... Better than Viduka??? The YEP reports that Warnock almost walked out on us when we could / would not raise the funds to buy Ward, but stayed on for the ER fans. Warnock, has labelled the United job as his biggest task ever in management, said: âI was disappointed to lose Ward to Palace earlier on in the summer; in fact at that stage Iâm not sure I was going to be here. âThere were temptations and I think it might have been easier to take an offer elsewhere than stay here. My son James lives here and heâs the one that over this summer â when it would have been easier to leave â who has pleaded with me to give it a go. Because he knows how desperate I am to get another promotion.â On this very day in 2007 Bates bought our club. Looking back at the headlines, something (potentially) dodgy was going on :- 2007 Leeds administration saga took another turn as The Football League declined a request from the new owners of Leeds United for their football league share to be transferred, effectively allowing them to start again as a normal league club. It appears that at the meeting arranged, the clubs administrators, KPMG failed to turn up with no reason given for their absence. This meant that a number of key pieces of documentation were not available and hence no decision was made. Similarly the League have expressed some concern over the administration proceedings as a statement read: 'Additionally, the Board expressed concern at the handling of the whole process by the administrators and the Chairman was instructed to obtain legal advice in that regard. A statement on leedsunited.com attempted to explain the situation. As it stands, Leeds United 2007 Limited own the entire club with the exception of the 'football shares' which would allow it entry into League One, and that the documentation required by the Football League has now been passed on. The Shiekh is believed to be in Germany at the moment, but the Bahrain born potential benefactor of Leeds United is expected in West Yorkshire immeniently.
Fingers crossed for today, Elland Road is closed, we can all hope this is for a smooth change over of bank accounts and ownership. So finally confirmation Ward went to Palace due to us lacking in funds and not because he wanted a move to London.
Wards transfer took ages, I reckon he (Ward) kept stalling hoping we could find the money. With Colin in charge, we are suddenly an attractive propersition. Morning btw..
Reading the 2007 article, and reading that our administators failed to turn up for a meeting without any excuse, we are lucky to still be in business...
Sorry morning Elland - I have done so little in the way of work this month distracted by signings, lack of signings and takeover talk, I will be putting my own bill in for lost earnings at this rate when the new people are in place...
Morning all ristac, I feel your pain brother. The ammount of work I have let slip is a joke. Really need to crack on next week!
Good morning all. A couple of talking points there. Warnock thinking about leaving but decided to stay and give it a go. Thats why I felt he would walk because he wasn't given the funds he needed. I also knew that Ward wanted to come, and expected to come and thats why he spent so long in Leeds with Pearce and at TA. He was waiting for the deal to be done and get his medical. The story about him choosing Palace because of his wife was a red herring. My worry now though, is that Warnock will still not have the funds he wants or needs, but has decided to stay anyway and give it a go. If the takeover isn't going to happen in time, or even if it does, still not give him enough cash, I would have preffered him to go and tell the fans his reasons. This would have put more pressure on the old miser. The Calender story is old news, as usual and can't believe it as its just a rehash of stories and twatter feeds. God I hope it comes true and gets finished so that we know what the hell is going on. The administration was a complete fiasco, and KPMG should have been asked to sit before a select committee to explain themselves. The facts are that there were 3 bids on the table before KPMG. The deadline day came and out of the blue Bates and Co (FSF) showed KPMG documents that the 3 bidders had never seen before, nor KPMG. The documents showed that FSF were owed £17.5m which would need adding to the creditors list. Why were KPMG not aware of this as it was their job to go through everything and do full due dilligence. The 3 bids on the table had to decline and wanted more time to look at it and come up with another proposal because another £17.5m screwed up their bids. FSF then said that if Bates was allowed to stay in charge, they would forget the £17.5m. Who in their right minds forgets that sort of cash unless its dodgy, and why leave disclosure until the 12th hour. So thats why people suspected something dodgy, and thats why the 3 bids on the table (1 of which was better for creditors and a bigger lump of money for the club) had to pull out. FSF may have had their bid accepted but in real terms they stole the club. This was either incompetence on the part of KPMG or collusion (As David Conn said in his article) FSF and Bates have more than doubled that supposed £17.5m by milking the club ever since, but finding someone willing to prove it is difficult. Bates shafted Abramovitch when he sold Chelsea, and Bates has history and double dealing and being not quite honest, so I expect that whoever is trying to by Leeds is doing a serious amount of work, so that they don't get shafted. The sooner this bandit has fooked off the better. Abramovitch found out that he bought the club but not the ground ..... Thats fact, and had to pay another £20m to Bates and his 2 partners in crime; Patrick Murrin (Since banned by the FSA from financial dealings) Mark Taylor our club solicitor and Director (The bloke who has been called a liar by 2 HIgh Court judges) These 3 have been in cohorts for years in all sorts of offshore, shell company deals that have made them money and shafted investors.
One thing I really admire about Warnock is his honesty. Nice to see him admitting the Ward fiasco. I wonder could he have made those comments had Bates not already fppked off away from Elland Road. Ive maintained all along all the closures today at Elland Rd, ticket office, Billys Bar, Howards Restaurant are part of the transfer of ownership. I think LUST's lake of comments over past week indicates we are close. Hope I'm right
You guys better hope this takeover comes sooner rather than later with all the dross Warnock has been and trying to sign
Naylor is back, cant be a bad thing having him around the youngsters Our promotion winning skipper Richard Naylor is back at Thorp Arch, passing on his knowledge to the next generation of Leeds United hopefuls. The 35-year-old, who parted company with Leeds at the end of the 2010/11 season, has called time on his playing career, after spells with Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham last term, and he is now looking to gain experience as a coach. Richard, who made 76 appearances for his hometown club after signing from Ipswich Town in January 2009, is working with the club's under-18s as he looks to take his first steps in coaching and pass on his knowledge to the young players. Richard, a popular figure during his time with the club, is working closely with closely with under-18s boss Neil Redfearn.
Cant be a bad thing can it. Proper committed player. If he can pass that enthusiasm and work rate onto the youngsters we are onto a winner. Morning Mighty btw
Harvy was in Court yesterday giving evidence regarding policing costs. I guess we can't expect a takeover to conclude while that is ongoing?
