For all he keeps posting that he'd be delighted if it happened, he's one of a few who genuinely just seem to enjoy wallowing in misery. He'd be in his element if it fell through, and if they do take over I give it about 2 days before he starts "lowering expectations" and being pessimistic about what they can achieve. People like that baffle me, there's enough to be concerned and worried about in every day life, football is supposed to be an escape from that. Can't understand why anyone would keep watching and commenting on something which seemingly gives them so little enjoyment or cause for optimism
Of course he'd take great delight in seeing any sort of decent takeover fail, sat typing on his phone with a **** eating grin on his face just to say I told you so. Blokes a ****er.

I floated the idea a few months ago that Short basically set it all up. I have a source close to the people SD originally came in alongside, and for some reason Donald semi-screwed them over midway through the due diligence. He'd never been intended as the main guy and was given a chance to be a minority partner in their bid, with Donald and one other (now looks like Sartori) taking 49% and this fund from Spain taking 51% and overall control.

Then all of a sudden, their version is that he started demanding 33% each, which if it was Sartori (I don't know this but it looks very likely) would have basically meant DER LADS were aligned and effectively in charge with 66% and were dragging the Spanish PE firm along. Obviously they decided to leave it, and their wording was 'they were not quite so positive about Donald at the end as at the beginning' which was said in a very very understated way that implied exactly what they thought of him :D

I've always wondered what changed in that timespan. My opinion is that Short got a very sweet deal in some way from the takeover, and realistically, he got about £30m+ from this takeover in net benefit, where he was probably looking like not getting anything from any other party. Maybe there is some credence to Methven and Short being very clever, and Donald getting caught up in it.

Once on board (Madrid Oxford = Madrox), SD clearly spotted the opportunity to own a big football club for a very affordable price (for him) at £10-£15 million. He obviously thought, I can do this with a little help from Juan and why do we need the Spanish PE firm. I do believe his intentions were genuine, even if those intentions were primarily business focused i.e the club would be worth more in the championship and much more again in the premiership. He clearly did not intend to sell it as a league one club.

Just had a quick look at who were among the first gloaters, on the equivalent RTG thread, and it couldn't be more predictable.

Phil, SAFC 2012, Jardine, Abu Dhabi, etc straight on dripping out their tedious drivel ...

... and equally predictable, they've now vanished or throwing up smokescreens.

Absolutely cringing behaviour from people claiming to be Sunderland supporters ...

... if most people like them were supporters I wouldn't want to be.

It will be tremendous you when it goes through mind.

Need to cook a massive humble pie for them all to munch on <laugh>

When you get back on there after a ban you realise what a bunch of absolute bellends get on there. Most of the twats go on ignore now, can't be chewed reading their ****e patter tbh.

The worst are the ones you don't really notice at first because they're so dull.

Hong Kong Phooey, the dog fingerer, is typical ...

... horrible sly little toad who'll cuddle up to anyone he thinks will agree with him.

Digressing slightly but has this ownership thing got anything to do with why nothing has been mentioned about new season tkts yet? Normally pushing us to renew by now and issuing costs n dates of direct debits.

It'll be interesting in terms of prices - this is the last year of the three year price freeze iirc.

Yeah so funny that they kept Madrox. That's how late in the day it was. Literally a week before the news broke, the Spanish were still the main investors. Also why everything was publicly about an 'international consortium'. I don't know but I was wondering this afternoon if it could have been Methven as the third party.

And yeah you're spot on with that assessment, that's exactly what happened. I just wonder as Bob says, how much of that potential pathway was fed to him by Methven, and in turn... did it come from Short? He did very well out of it.

I thought the comments about Saffy being a racist were out of order.

Saffy spent a lot of time on the 2019 GE thread (unsurprisingly as he set it up). I agreed with about 0.0% of his political views, and said so. No-one got annoyed or threw their toys out. If someone has strong political opinions (as I have) it's obvious people will disagree with you strongly. Fair enough. I've disagreed politically with Saffy several times over the years and no-one's ever got abusive. I've never known the bloke make any racist comment ever.

Morning/afternoon guys,

I've removed the original offending comment and also the most recent comment in reply, until your mods come and chat to me.

I'm not censoring anyone, I just need to know what's occurring, and I'm guessing that's not going to be happening as quickly as I may like.

I will also now edit any comments, that quoted the originals.

Thanks site admin.

The post that you deleted was totally unacceptable, and your response was 'spot on' brb . . . . exactly what I would have done :emoticon-0148-yes:

Back to 'normal' peeps :emoticon-0100-smile

p.s. for anybody suggesting that we mods 'get a grip' . . . . it's not often that we're not about, but we've got work to do sometimes, you know, and we've got brb as back-up :emoticon-0105-wink:
