The club have moved decisively to solve our striker shortage. A striker who cost Charlton over four million pounds came on as a second half sub at Maidstone! In other news, the Good Doctor's and my campaign to rehabilitate Evina is not going well. He gave away a penalty for handball which allowed Maidstone to equalise and was promptly subbed. We have a forward called Fenwick playing. Any ideas? And a defender called McCormack. It ain't Oxo, because he has just joined Brentford. Also someone called Stewart. I hope it's not Cameron Stewart whom Hull have been trying to unload since forever. Billed as a striker/winger he has scored twice in 75 appearances. Even Leaburn scored more than that! Finished 2-1 to Charlton. Muldoon tapped in the first after a great run from Sho-Silva.
The Stewart is Greig Stewart who is a first year scholar. No idea who McCormack or Fenwick are. We had Frankie Munns on trial, he is a goal scoring midfielder released from the Spurs academy.
Apparently our u18s won a friendly 4-0 against Norwich who were a top tier side last season. The hits keep on coming!
Talking about Spurs, I was surprised to have just noticed that, three weeks after his final match for us, Obika played and scored for Spurs in their 2-3 defeat to Man Utd in the Grand Final of the Div One u21 league. Haven't noticed that mentioned here or on the OS. I bet not too many players in that match will be released on frees or for nominal sums.
You might be OK, eddie - CAFC official Twitter feed has issued a correction - apparently it was Ade Azeez who handled, and Dr. Kish is reporting that Cedric will sign on the dotted line tomorrow, hopefully having got rid of his d******d of an agent. Not unhappy with this, as it means with Fox looking good, we won't ever see Chris Solly at LB again. It would be nice though if he acknowledged, even privately, that some of the comments attributed to him were at best, ill-advised.
His re-signing doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless: (1) He is willing to try his luck at LM. or (2) We expect to sell Wiggins fairly soon or (3) We have agreed to sell Evina if we get a decent offer (that is, better than the modest development fee we would now receive). Though this last could get messy. Failing any of the above he would be better off stepping down a tier and getting regular games to boost his value. He is plenty young enough to make that worth doing that (same age as Michael Smith).
