Today is the first day in a long while I have woken up, and being genuinely excited at the prospect of going to watch City again.
We have owners with ambition, a very good manager with ambition, we have young players with ambition and a squad that has the foundations to achieve more than last season if we can keep hold of the key players. Nothing is gaurenteed, but we have a better chance to finish in the top 6 than we did at the end of last season already with an experienced manager and thats without strengthening the squad.
We are very attractive to new players.
We have a manager in place to take us up and keep us up.
The players will be impressed by the appointment of Bruce no matter what there thoughts on the way Barmby was treated, and will be excited to be working with him, they know he has a good chance of taking them into the Premier league if they hang around.
Steve Bruce came across as an honest, ambitous man who was genuinly excited by the challenge of taking us into the Premier league and keeping us there, with a chance to develop the young players we already have.

Forget all the last few weeks since the end of the season, lets all get together and get behind Steve Bruce and the Allams and give them the support they need.

Is this a cunning ploy to avoid Charlie labelling this Bruce thread #438?

Personally Bruce has a lot to prove to me, I don't rate him as a manager after his failure at Sunderland. I've no doubt he will recruit well but how much will he piss away in doing it? He's tactically clueless and to be honest I think he's a clown. Back in November/December whenever flat top left, if anyone said Bruce we'd all have said **** off.

I appreciate the fact he has a lot to prove and failure here could spell the end of his career, and I genuinely hope he proves it and returns to the managerial quality he showed at brumscum and wigan, but as we all saw with browny once things go pear shaped it's hard to get out of ways your stuck into.

I agree with the OP. The only concern I have is the chemistry between owner and manager.
Bruce comes across as someone with a strong will who wants to do it his way or not at all. Unfortunately so does our owner.
There's little doubt they share the same aims but it's the means of achieving them that could be an issue.

I can see Bobs point of view but there's no choice now other than to back the manager and the owners and hope for good times ahead.

I know a Wigan season ticket holder - he rates Bruce very highly. Brought in some great players for Wigan and got them very respectable premier league finishes. He said he may have fat head, but he'll get us up and keep us up!!'

Happy if that does prove to be the case. Be very interested to see what happens with the back room staff - I'd be very surprised if Bruce doesn't want influence over who stays and goes.

Give it a rest now mate. Bruce is our manager now so it's no surprise we're talking about him.

I kind of understand the people talking about Bruce's failure at Sunderland - but it's not like he got them relegated - and hadn't he lost Gordon, Turner and Campbell to really nasty injuries?

Besides - what happens when managers without failure come to us? Parky - respected at Colchester - Failure, Molby - respected at Kidderminster - Failure, Pearson - Respected at Leicester - Judas.

    Managers with history of failure?
Phil Brown - Failed at Derby - Premier League, Peter Taylor - Failed at Leicester - Double Promotion

New clubs mean a new slate - I think it's wrong to judge managers purely on the reason for leaving their past clubs - it's always different situations, with different personalities.

Negativity? Not at all just voicing my opinion, or am I not allowed to do that unless I think well be qualifying for the champions league next season?

I don't like to judge managers by their previous position however at Sunderland I feel it was more than just not working out for him, he seemed completely clueless, tactically inept, scared to attack and it was almost as if he picked names and formations out of a hat. That is what gives me cause for concern.

Either way he will get my full backing and the time he needs. A clean slate for a fresh start, I'll just be wary and wait for him to prove his worth before I get over excited and jump for joy. Nothing ever goes quite to plan at hull city anyway!

Tenth was hardly a failure at Sunderland was it? Pretty good if you ask me for a club their size.

What he did at Wigan was brilliant look at the players he signed for them, Palacios, Valencia, Rodellega etc.... All quality players. If he can do what he did there with signings obviously on a lot lower budget then he will be a success.

I think there were a lot of mitigating circumstances for Aunty Brucie at Slumberland.

Campbell did his cruciates, Wickham did his as well, Gyan upped and left just before the window closed they were left with playing Stéphane Sessègnon up front on his own and he was really a winger.
