I listened to the interview with Barmby last night and I took a few things from it. It to me seemed clear his is as frustrated as we are regarding our current form. To be fair I think he is pretty much doing the best with what he has got and the fact we have had a stack of games this month has subjected the team to fatigue. I wouldnt say they were tired or less fit than other sides but as results have slipped the fatigue has set in. Players with slight knocks and strains have also not had the luxury of a weeks rest. The second thing I got from it is that he doesnt have a clue whether he has any budget for the summer. Either that or he is bluffing. The Allams have invested a fortune in the club and I wouldn't demand further investment although I do think to cut off a finance stream would be short sighted. The club needs help bringing its self back into the black and clubs which have aspirations of promotion rarely make a profit because of the investment needed on the pitch in wages and transfer fees. This summer will be interesting. We need 2-3 key signings to make us a complete side and that is without us losing any of the better players now. A lot will depend on moving on the remaining high earners and I would hope A.P, Barmby and the Allams all come together to push us on. In the last 2 seasons we have moved in the right direction. Next season could be the time to push on that bit further. UTT
I remember him speaking before 'Mad March' and saying that it's a time when we'll need the real depth in our squad - you'd think he would have actually stuck to that. Other than seeing Cairney a bit more, a couple of sub appearances from Cullen and one from Simpson the other night, I don't think we've really taken advantage of our depth (Where the hell is Garcia!?) This summer could be make or break our push for promotion. We have a promising young squad, so building on it without losing a single key player could really mean fighting for the top 2 next season (If we find a bloody goalscorer!) whilst failing to find much improvement and losing someone like Chester could (I feel) rule us out of the race for a good few years.

I think if we lose the key players without the scouting staff here under Nige we could be in a worse position than when he came. Not debt wise but quality on the field. Nick has not brought anyone in yet so I may be being a little presumptuous but it is a serious thought! Building on this squad is key or replacing key personnel with as good or better players is something we need to do. Wolves and QPR will have cash to splash as will Leicester, Blackpool, Ipswich etc. The summer will be very interesting!!!
Why is there this fascination with losing James Chester in the summer ? From the meeting of the Premier Club members last week NON of the players that Nick wants to keep are leaving nor do they want to. End of.!!
It's very easy to say that now though isn't it? We didn't want to sell Turner and he didn't want to leave until he heard Sunderland were interested.
What do you expect them to say? They're hardly likely to say "I want to leave and I'm off as soon as a decent offer comes in for me" are they??
Can i live in your world FT .I hope your right but this football lark is littered with kiss the badge not going anywhere players untill someone comes knocking.
That is a million miles away from the club and Chester. Dufferman was desperate for the money and Turner left as he was not happy with the way the club was going. Who could blame him. Yes he also got cash rich but Turner was hardly on peanuts here by that time. The 2 situations are different and we now have decent owners again. I would say though that IF we are not back in the PL by the start of 2013/14 then Chester may well move on. Dont see it at all this summer though.
True. But its also oh so easy to post Chester will be sold. But its typical of the negative thinking at times of some fans.
Its not a case of living in my world. ffs, its all so easy to say that Chester will be sold. If you were not at the meeting then you cannot comment. Indications are that NB will get in the players he wants to add to the players here now he wants to keep. By the way i fully agree with you on that kissing the badge. When players do that you know they are false. Thankfully ive not seen any Hull City players kissing the badge. Maybe thats when we should all start to worry.
Players tend to kiss the badge after scoring a goal. As we haven't been scoring any that could be a reason why we haven't seen it...
Personally, I don't think Chester will go. I get the impression he's happy here for a few years as he's still developing. It could ruin his career if he moved to a Premier League club now. I think all the young lads will stay. The likely loss for me is Koren. He's not getting any younger and this could be his last chance of top flight football so he might be tempted to move on, although I hope not. Barmby hasn't been told anything about the budget for Summer but there will be additions.
