Why does it seem that with Arsenal, many of our former greats, are quite disloyal to the club? Maybe that's a strong word, maybe you can call them ungrateful? But you look at former greats like Ian Wright, Patrick Vieira, and they haven't exactly covered themselves in glory with the way they have conducted themselves towards Arsenal, especially Vieira. Another player that springs to mind is Stuart Robinson, this guy is always negative towards Arsenal. You look at other former greats at other clubs, like Gary Nevile, Jamie Rednapp etc, and these guys are always talking good about their club, sure they might sometimes objectively critique them, but nothing close to the disrespect Arsenal have to endure from our former greats. It's like with Arsenal, many of our former players have this chip on their shoulders, and are going out of their way to break the bridges with this great club that made them. Even Lee Dixon hasn't been too friendly with us, he hasn't been bad as the others, but still. I'm not asking them to roll over for Arsenal, but just show some more respect, not even asking to show as much affection as Henry does for this club, although that wouldn't be too bad either.
I think former players like Wright, Dixon, Viera are loyal, especially Wright, they are probably just frustrated at the clubs current state and just speaking their mind saying what a lot of Arsenal fans have been saying the whole time. However there are a few disgraceful unloyal ****s like Cole, Nasri, Adebayor who can go and fcuk themselves in a sweaty threesome.
They were paid employees & we are supposed to be fans. If you want to see disloyalty, take a look at many of the threads on this board.
Neville doesn't have much to be disloyal about - its not like Man U have taken a step backwards in the past few years and Redknapp has at least seen Liverpool win the Champions League.
I don't think the fact they've been critical shows disloyalty. They're more likely just annoyed at the club for its lack of ambition over recent Seasons.
A lot of them are just speaking the truth. If you really love Arsenal, you would be fighting for change. These players are in a prime position to have their voices heard on how poor we have been for years, so I say we should thank them if it helps change our club
I've got no problem with ex players having their opinion, the same as anyone else. The problem is that some ex players still think that they know what's best for the club because they used to be a part of the club, but fail to recognise that they are now outside of the club and have no more insight than any other pundit.
What about Vieira? This guy is not simply being critical of the team, he is blatantly doing stupid **** against us, such as his unhelpful remarks on RVP, and the way he's whoring himself to Mancity. I really doubt you'd see legends of other clubs making such remarks about a former team trying to keep a star of theirs.
And the same goes for Stuart Robinson, this guy is just blatantly negative, I remember a game in which Walcott was awarded a penalty this season, a clear penalty, and Robson started slagging Walcott off saying he didn't have to go down and could have remained in play even though it was a clear as daylight penalty. And there was another game were he kept slagging our players off for going down too easily when in fact they were actually being fouled, so the guy just talks utter **** against us.
I remember listening to a couple of commentaries with Stuart Robson and he was so over the top with the criticism, especially towards Walcott. He was basically cheering on the opposition. It was clear he was anti Arsenal and I couldn't believe it when I found out it was Stuart Robson. So, no I don't accept that some of them are simply speaking the truth, I think some clearly have an axe to grind
I was going to add that comment too, about his blatant anti-Walcott commentary, the fact you noticed that as well, shows it's quite blatant. The irony is that Stuart is a big fan of Adebayor, always speaks highly of him during games, this shows you the guy is not neutral as he's supposed to be as a critical 'pundit' but obviously favours players.
Rubbish. They are best place to tell us what is wrong with the club seeing as they were on the inside and know how the place operates
I would take Mers's view over a non Arsenal pundit's any day - and definitely over yours. I have to say though you are right about Stuart Robson - he is a **** of the first order. He said some quite sensible things recently about the system being the issue not the players, but generally? He's a ****.
Likewise I'd take Merson's view over yours . . and he's still a crap pundit and pretty clueless about Arsenal these days. He was a great player for our club, but that's where it ended.
Are you saying you know more than Merse now as well? Unless you think you are worse than clueless then you are effectively saying that. Stop and think a bit... a top player for Arsenal, and championship winner, and you seem to be claiming you are more of an expert
You said : Unless you are also stating that you are worse than clueless you are making some pretty fantastical claims again about knowing more than a professional footballer who played for our club and actually played for our current manager. Makes you look like a complete ****** to be honest
