Rumours around today that Arsenal are considering switching to:

    ........................Chesney
    ..........Kos..........Merts.....Vermaelen
    Sagna.............................................Gibbs
    ..................Arteta.......Wilshere

    ........................Cazorla

    .................Walcott.....Giroud

How would you feel about this?
In defense Cazorla & Theo can push wide, providing a 5-4-1, while in attack, the wingbacks push up, effectively making a 3-5-2.

Would you advocate this for home or away or both?

    Throw some ideas around folks!!

    Wenger's first formation in 1996 was 5-3-2

    Seaman
    Dixon Bould Adams Keown Winterburn
    Vieira, Merson, Hartson,
    Platt, Wright (I think)

feel free to correct if I am wrong.

I think you're wrong matey.I may be getting old and senile but my recolection is we always played with a 4-4-2.You've also forgotten to include God(DB10) in that formation

Nah im sure wenger played with 3 at the back in his first few months at times, I dont think it lasted long, but adams, keown and bould were all defiantly playing at the same time in the very early days.

This rumour is gathering pace though it would still surprise me. In favour of it though.

I think could be a wise move .. not sure if Sagna is ideal to play as wing back but will give you more width and make better use of your attacking left backs ..
have to say, you need more than 6 CBs to rotate the side and in case of injuries

    Would be interesting.

Both Koscileney and Vermaelen get forward too much as it is. So perhaps this would be a little more balanced.

    You may be right <whistle>

I think that formation was from one of Wenger's earliest games, the 2-0 against Blackburn <ok> It may be that he changed formation soon after.

The other thing is both Kos and Verm are technically better than half the DM's in the league so we may not suffer in terms of ball possession as much as people think.
