I know its a bit simplistic but prior to yesterday's game since the turn of the year we were 5th in the form table. Proof that things have improved. Can only wonder where we might be if JFH came in sooner, same with Smithies, can't help but think there's a few points could have been saved there if he had been between the sticks.
Yay we are the fifth tallest dwarf over the last 3 months! Sorry Frome, it's a decent point, but I couldn't resist. Let's look forward not back............. ...............Well, I've tried looking forward, I now think it's probably better to look back. About 40 years back.
Good point, Frome and hopefully an optimistic harbinger for next season. There are still things we can learn from the team over the last seven games - and then we learn something more about the manager over the summer transfer period
However bad the defence was yesterday, eight teams have conceded more than us. Considering how we seemed to be shipping three a week under Ramsey, it's really turned around in that respect.
Seemed to? You can't just guess this stuff young man. You need stats and facts ... League Only Ramsey = 15 Games 24 Goals Against = 1.60 Goals for 22 = 1.46 avg per game. Pts per game = 1.26 Warnock = 4 Games 2 Goals Against = 0.50 Goals for 2 = 0.5 '' Pts per game = 1.75 JFH = 20 Games 21 Goals Against = 1.05 Goals for 25 = 1.25 '' Pts per game = 1.25
I think we're better off. Harder to come in to a group low on confidence and get them playing in a new way than Ramsey's situation. I think the performances are generally improving. The fitness certainly is getting better.
I find it extraordinary that everybody marvels at a team that plays the pressing game, particularly when it presses the opposition so far upfield, yet so few managers seem to choose to set their teams up to play that way. Of course, you need to have very fit players, but that should be the case anyway. And, of course, it would also, help to have talented, intelligent and skillful players, but that shouldn't mean that one shouldn't go down that route regardless. We congratulate Boro on playing this way, so why not emulate it?
Guessing two of the other four will be promoted so as long as the relegated teams have a **** season on current form we will finish third
It would also be worth considering what might have happened if we had retained Warnock until the end of the season ... http://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/competition:championship/form/matches:6/type:home-and-away
