Many of you will have seen Patrick Barclay's shoddy piece of sentimental pro-Bolton tripe in LONDON's Evening Standard this week. I offer a short-ish piece on why it's utter bilge and why none of is matters: http://tinyurl.com/d8pew82
Another worthwhile read there TIME. Nice perspective too in setting the subject matter into the context of Dalrymple's work. Typical of the right wing Standard though to jump on to the crest of a wave of 'public' sentiment, with a diatribe of ill-researched middle England presumption which never passes up the opportunity to alienate the little guy. This rag has been doing this for decades. Done it to the original Labour Party and members thereof, done it to my unfashionable but highly functional industry and a host of other causes that challenge 'established' thought. No surprise then that Barclay is allowed to get away with penning 10 minutes opinionated drivel. Provokes a reaction doesn't it? Look at us kicking back here. They love all this! I'm not sure that I agree that Barclay's motives related to aligning with (presumed) national sentiment. Bog standard (pun intended) lazy journalism I'd say from a paper with a long history of right wing reactionismThe Muamba factor apart,
