We should test Barca`s resolve and offer them £35m for Thiago instead. The lad is pure class. He wont play many games with the arrival of Sanchez and possibly Fabregas(we could fund his dream move lol).

    Knee jerk reaction.

One goal against us and people start raving about him, much like people raving about bloody Benzema after one goal against him, what a load of **** he is.

One good game and he's worth £35 million. Massive overreaction in my opinion.

I watched him at the Euro under 21`s and it is clear to see that the lad will be a superstar, he tore B.Munich apart the other night too and he would be a better investment than the Dutchman.

While Benzema has had a difficult few seasons but he is a young lad and he is still a quality player, Robben, Sneijder, VDV and many others have failed to shine at RM, IMO Madrid is a circus of a club who treat their players like ****.

Not necessarily £35m (I would pay that for him though) , just using the projected figures for the Sneijder deal.

I must say this lad will be the next superstar. I watched him come through last season and he looked special and I was a bit suprised to hear he may have gone to Arsenal. Before he signed for Barca, Ballague claimed Flamengo offered him to United and Arsenal but they didn't want him. Now 4 years later he is one of the best prospects in the World. I don't know what is in the water in Barcelona at the moment but they don't have a bad player. I don't think they really have a weak link at the moment.

    Benzema is **** ?

Last season he scored 26 goals and made 9 assists in 31 starts. I wouldn't mind **** like that at United.

He probably will be a very good player but do you think Barcelona will even be tempted to sell considering his performances this pre-season? Begs the question why they want Fabregas.

I cant see where he would play either but they seem determined to get him though which leaves very little playing time for Thaigo esp with Sanchez`s arrival.I would even take Xavi if they`ll let him go :).
I think they may be open to a bid, it would pay for Fabregas` return.

Xavier Hernandez has been around for so long. I'm sure he was playing against us during the treble season! I would have thought that Fabregas would be the long term replacement for Xavi but where does that leave Thiago?

Wouldn't Sanchez play out wide? I don't exactly follow Barcelona ardently but isn't their first choice 3 forwards Pedro, Villa and Messi? I would have thought that Sanchez would relish playing as part of that front 3 but then who would he replace? Villa does pretty well coming from the channels out wide so is Sanchez going to get much playing time?

Yes, Sanchez can play in any of those front 3 positions and as you say their current first choice are not bad options themselves.Sanchez is a brilliant player and I would be surprised if he does not force his way into that side, prob at Pedro`s expense.I would gladly take whoever is feeling left out next summer,

Xavi played against us around 2000 as a teenager, I think it was a pre-season friendly.I would have thought Fabregas would be his long term replacement, though I could see Xavi playing for another few years yet.Not bad options all round the pitch. Its hard to see how any team can get close to Barca for the foreseeable future.

I cant see Thiago playing much at all, thats why I think we could get him and I think he would be a brilliant signing.

Berb do you not watch football? Thiago is an amazing talent and would walk straight into our 11. He is better than all our cm easily. No it is not a knee jerk reaction. If you watched him last season and in the u21 and against Bayern you would know. He is the best young midfielder in world football. Not surprising really, Barca are just producing stars for fun. I would pay 35m for him as in the future he could be worth double that or even more. Would I take him over Wesley? Without a doubt!!! He is 7 years younger and is a much better talent.

However, the problem is.... Thiago has just signed a new deal about 4 weeks ago :( Hernandez lol. We can't get him, he does not want to leave hence signing a new deal. So forget about that lol.

Funny how no-one was talking about him up until a few weeks ago.

To be honest Nohlman I don't value anything you say, you know **** all about anything.

Oh shut up, if you can't see the talent in Thiago, you are blind and very stupid. Sorry but it is not JUST one game as you are pointing out. Any player at 20 who gets game for Barca in a midfield with Xavi and Inesta are a special talent. He is better than any of our midfielders by a mile. He has great short and long passing, great vision, dribbling, trickery and has a great shot and is a great young player. Another special player produced by Barca and he will get much, much better.

I didn't say I don't rate him but you are just jumping on the bandwagon, as many people often do. This is the first time I have ever seen you mention him.

To be fair nolhman did specifically talk Tiago up as a big threat in his Barca vs Utd thread. But then you are never sure whether that's just nolhman talking up every player and team who we are going to face.

Tiago may well be worth a punt, especially as Barca may be willing to grab the cash to fund the Fabregas deal. SAF could also do a great job on him like he did with Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs etc. But the problem with buying young Barca players is that there is the chance they will decide they want to go back there once they are established, at which point the Barca tapping up machine will go into full flow. So I'd be wary of paying anything over about £20 million for him, to avoid the risk of him tying to force a move back to Barca in the future at that sort of price.

He just signed a new deal, so why would he suddenly leave? Makes no sense, maybe a loan move is more likely to a team like Valencia or Villarreal.

Good point. After all, it's not like Phil Jones signed a new deal four months before joining Utd. Young players sign contract extensions all the time just so their salary tracks with their experience and stage of development. If Barca are willing to sell and he is willing to leave then the new contract won't make a bit of difference.
