I found these vidoes on the web yesterday. They are interesting because they show City playing at what must be Anlaby Road. The Newcastle one could be the earliest film of City playing. You'll have to put up with the adverts at the beginning. Try following the link. http://www.britishpathe.com/workspaces/Mark-Peacock/Hull-City-Collection
Fantastic. Notice the lino's position in those last few clips ? Behind the goal-line. Who needs goal-line technology eh ?
Great footage, I was at the Chelsea games both home and away, bring back very happy memories. There doesn't seems to be any footage of the first match at Stamford Bridge, as over the years I have never managed to find one, which was a great game to be at.
All the words have been said. I especially liked the closeups of the players running out of the tunnel. Who can identify the players? I bet Mrs Blue Mountain's Bear's husband can. Agree with Charles, this should be put on the Tiger's history thread.
I was stood behind the goal at the North Stand end, yes where the goals are scored and I have been trying to stop the film and with a magnifying glass see if I can spot myself, unsuccessful at the moment. As for the first match at Stamford Bridge I have seen footage but at the moment cannot supply a link but if I find one I will post. It may have been on M.O.T.D. but Anglia TV televised a lot of City matches in those days.
Thanks for the thanks! Glad you liked hem as much as I did. I wasn't at the Chelsea match. My dad wouldn't let me go! I think the Stamford Bridge match was on MOTD. Does anybody know how I put it on the Tigers' history thread? Also, does anyone know what colour the shirts were in the video where we aren't wearing stripes? I think they were sky blue but I could be wrong. It was only the three crowns badge that convinced me it was City. Does anyone know when the tiger badge came in. I can remember one in the middle of Terry Neill's shirts but I'm not sure about before that.
Too young to go to the away game but the game was on ITV and I have seen footage of it soon after the event but like you have never found anything of it on the net..
Check www.historicalkits.co.uk for shirts. For example from the web site from 1947 to 1975 (with three exceptions) the shirts were all amber except for collars and neck lines that were black). Shorts were usually black with a variation on socks. Badges or crests seem to change all the time but there are examples on the Hull City site as well. If you spot anything that you know is missing or incorrect you can contact Dave Moor. I sent him details of a Bonus Electrical black and amber striped shirt that was missing and received a very nice thank you from him. Hull City Mad also has examples of historical shirts.
