I thought this one was dead in the water, apparently not....

    http://www.clubcall.com/west-bromwich-albion/baggies-ditch-vaughan-attempts-1235523.html

West Brom have decided to end their pursuit of free agent David Vaughan after Sunderland entered the race for his signature.

The Baggies were initial favourites to snap up the 28-year-old Wales international midfielder after he quit relegated Blackpool when his contract expired at the end of last season.
And, despite Vaughan visiting the Baggies' training ground and meeting sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth on Monday, the club decided to withdraw their interest when it became clear his head has been turned by Premier League rivals Sunderland.
Therefore, with Zoltan Gera set to rejoin Albion and the likes of Paul Scharner, Youssouf Mulumbu, Somen Tchoyi, Chris Brunt, Jerome Thomas, James Morrison and a fit-again Graham Dorrans all battling for a midfield place, Hodgson could turn his attentions on snapping up a new striker and goalkeeper instead.

Vaughan has got to be a better option than Gibson. It turns out that agreeing terms is what is holding up the transfer of Darron Gibson. Is he trying to be a greedy twat?

If Vaughan signs, I would suggest that our interest in Gibson will end.

I'd prefer Vaughan to Gibson, without question.

He ran the game at the SOL last season so Id take him over Gibson every day of the week. The only concern I have about our midfield is that excluding Meyler, they are all midgets.

i never watched much of Blackpool last season, so could anyone tell me what kind of player he is ie.playmaker, attacking or defensive, because if we are starting with all of these attacking midfielders catts is going to have his work cut out covering them all. he cant stay injury free at the moment never mind with even more work to do.

If this is right then I will be over the moon. Really like Vaughan and don't rate Gibson at all. Excellent!

Vaughan can go onto the left wing if needed which would come in handy. He would finish off out midfield if that's the case!

It's Politically Incorrect to call them MIDGETS, we're not allowed to say that anymore, SHORT ARSE ****S will do though.
