    BBC Sports News Blog: -

Nottingham Forest are close to signing Scotland international winger Chris Burke, BBC Radio Nottingham reports. The 30-year-old is a free agent after his contract with Championship rivals Birmingham City expired.

Last week someone on here suggested we should be looking at him. While still a good Championship player he is now 30. How long will his legs (which get a battering every year) last? At least he is moving xloser to Scotland!!! Lol!!!

Will they be back for Whitts?

True Jay. He gave us some good times while with us and is one of those players to get you out of your seat when he takes on his fullback, as Noonie can do now.

Both have had their fitnes issues though. Comes with the territory of being a little, nippy winger up against hulking defenders who do not have the same skill or speed.

Bluey - get your facts right please. Forest returned Whitts to us three years back because of a breach of contract. He was supposed to run.

They thought the slow motion cameras at the City ground were faulty and stuck on freeze frame......<laugh>

We understand that Darren Pratley is still there though, but he hasn't played for them for the last 3 years. <ok>

Seems he likes to run down his contract, can't blame him never going to be a high earner so a few signing on fees will help him along.

Blue...A 30 year old footballer is relatively young these days, Today with sports science and all the rest of it players can play 4 or 5 years past where once 30 was deemed too old. Times have changed if you look at how many 30+ year old players are going for millions and playing championship/premiership football.

Dai - Burkie is a winger who relies on pace and trickery. He is not a big, strong guy and has taken a lot of kickings over the years. In saying that he averages over 40 games per season, some of which are off the bench. In reality his games per season achievement is likely to drop.

It is inevitable that he will slow down and not be so effective as he gets older.

He is fondly remembered at Cardiff and I am sure we all wish him well apart from when Forest play us.
