Yesterday i made a bold claim, stating that Mercedes would win the Italian GP easily. Now i'm taking this seriously, as force india do have a history of being strong in italy, Sutil finishing 4th a couple of years ago. Yesterday, somebody quoted that Anthony Davidson said that winning the italian gp requires a special package, and whoever takes it seriously will come out victorious, hence Ferrari's surprising pace last year. And they have the mercedes engine. Maybe worth a small bet...
No. I won't have a midfield team winning my home Grand Prix. Force India have been strong at low downforce circuits and I wouldn't expect that to change. If they are going to make a special Monza package, I reckon they'll be stronger than usual but I can't see them getting any higher than 5th, not without luck. The Italian Grand Prix is by far the best opportunity of 2011 to do some damage to Sebastian Vettel's title hopes. I'm certain Ferrari and McLaren will be quicker, but I also hope Mercedes and Force India will beat Red Bull.
I just want someone other than the big three teams to win a race. Or if it has to be the big three, i would love it to be felipe massa.
I dont think we will see Force India win, but it would be great to see them, Mercedes or the return of the Renault to the podium for a change. A high finish would be a big boost for teams to get them up the WCC standings.
