What's the worst thing, in your opinion, that Mark Hughes did at QPR? Or, what's the worst thing that happened under his administration that may or may not have been done by him directly but he allowed? Try to think of it in terms of how much of an effect it had at the time and how much it continues to effect us. For me, it's the sale of Heider Helguson. I really can't forgive him for that. HH was a machine. Ever since he came back from Watford on loan he was arguably our most effective player. The goals and assists speak for themselves. We all wondered if he could step up to the EPL and when he did, he was absolutely bossing around any defence, including those of the top teams. He brought so many players into the game by bringing the ball down and distributing. And he saved our neck when nothing else was happening in our team, i.e. getting that goal to get us a replay against MK Dons last year. And then that prick MH sold him!!! Our top scorer of last season, wasn't he? Even if it wasn't his decision at first, how could he let it happen? Now we have a lack of goalscorers and we're really ineffective in the final third, especially aerially. I'm quite positive that he would have been saving our butts this season, even in games where the team has had low morale. HH seemed to make his own morale. I recon we'd have a few more points now than we do. Yours?
Worse thing Make me lose my street-cred by allowing me to turn up to Loftus Road in my Barca shirt with his name on the back
The list is long, but I think you could well be right about HH. We'd have probably scored 10 goals more than we have at this point and could be 8 or 10 (not 9) points better off.
Though saying that, signing Green & the goalkeeping situation he's left us with must be up there! #HICC
This - although, thinking we'd got ourselves a bit of a prem management thoroughbred, I was delighted at the time...
The best thing was the series of home wins at the end of last season when the situation looked hopeless; for that I thank him.
I am in the minority I know but I thought he did a decent job ... OFF THE PITCH. It's a results game i understand that and therefore to answer the post fully he was far too complacent but we have the best squad ever IMO and that down to him. The buck stopped with him and he was trying to run before he walked. He was already living the QPR dream for sure but he ate too much cheese and it turned into a nightmare. I agree with Bricktop that the majority was over the moon when he came to our club... maybe the reason why we all feel let down but look at the two squads i posted and ask anyone on the planet which is the best on paper
He focused on revolution and not reform. He should have read Burke. And trusted the old guard more. The likes of Mackie, Derry, Hill and HH were more important than he realised.
I dont think he created a good squad at all, its totally off-kilter and naming only three strikers in any football league squad is a very strange decision indeed (when one of them isn't Luis Suarez). It might be the best squad of individuals we've ever had based on their respective careers and achievements (though I think the 1993-95 squad was better in terms of playing staff) but to be honest, it wasnt particularly hard to do this by waving a blank chequebook at a load of free agents and last chancres. Hughes seemed to have no idea whatsoever of how to build a squad, simply jumping on name after name regardless of if he needed them or not. His recruitment policy even hindered his own position as manager making it impossible to ever work out his best or a settled XI. Like nixon, he'll be remembered as a smart man ****ting in his own nest.
Give the captaincy to Park, our worst signing. Complete disrespect to the real leaders in our team. Showed me that he was not only clueless but we were not making decisions in the bests interests of the team.
He never ever once held his hands up and took the blame. It was always someone else's fault. I have no respect for this delusional buffoon.
