For those going to the Boelyn Ground tomorrow evening...

Discussion in 'Southampton' started by Richisontheboat33, Feb 13, 2012.

  1. and lucky enough to have a ticket - share your match day expectations, travel plans, ideas for planned watering holes, pie and mash shops, etc.

HUGE evening ahead and very excited.

Getting the train from Farnborough to Waterloo, hop on the Jubilee line, District line at West Ham, grab a beer in the 'Duke Of Edinburgh' near to Upton Park Tube Station and some pie and mash for sustenance.

After the game might be an idea to walk to Plaistow tube station rather than trying to file into Upton Park - you could be queued until Midnight otherwise.

Leaving home (Southend) at 17:35, get the train into Barking, then the tube, getting to Upton Park hopefully around 19:00 after consuming some food.

After the game I'll be heading to Plaistow too. Sod queueing in this weather for a tube at Upton Park. It is always chaos guys, avoid it if you can. The wait lasts hours and is uncomfortable to say the least.

    Very excited!

Leave about 5.30 pm get the train to London Waterloo then get the tube to Upton Park. I too plan to avoid Upton Park on the way back. I don't intend to get crushed!

If we win I'm not sure getting crushed should be our main fear!

That's true. When I got my tickets I had a chuckle/shudder. Back row, next to the netting between the fans. Fun fun fun! COME ON SAINTS

  7. Hi WD, I never try and predict results to be honest fella, not really keen on tempting fate. Most of us are feeling quite buoyant and positive at the moment (without being blase or overconfident). However, I do think we are perfectly capable of getting a result there.

Will be one hell of a game.

Couple more beers and then in to the ground to see a saints WIN. Should be a cracking day out with the lads. UPS!

Leaving from Cosham station in Portsmouth, getting to London Vic station about 6.30, meeting a good mate, getting on the tube to Upton Park, popping into a nearby pub and then heading to the match! COYS

I'll take off my club colours when going back I reckon. Going back the same way I'm getting there.

Funnily enough my plans are about the same, if you replace Cosham with Guildford :D

I don't think I'll be wearing Saints colours at all, cut down on the risk of being stabbed...

its just a tube journey for me, if we win this game then there will be trouble with west ham fans after the game, if we lose then it will just be endless taunting on the journey home. Btw upton park tube station after the game is hell, you can wait up to an hour before getting on a tube, i'd advise you to do the 20 minute walk down the road to east ham,

I was contemplating it, but considering I am travelling on a train from Barking straight home, probably engulfed with West Ham, it might not be a great idea.

Cheers for that mate, how much would a taxi cost from the ground to east ham tube station?

£5-£10 but they might bump the prices up for after the game. If not you can just jump on a bus for £2.20 outside the ground, The 58, 104 and 376 are all regular and take you to east ham from the ground.

Id also advise you to cover up your colours when getting near to the ground, If coming from tube you'll walk past alot of the Main hammers pubs and there often waiting to hurl abuse,

In terms of colours, I'm keeping them well under my coat. I'll wear a big dark coat and cover up before and after the game.
