Basically, it's the same pool of players used by Levien but I lets face it, not exactly much choice: Goalkeepers: Matt Gilks (Blackpool), David Marshall (Cardiff City), Allan McGregor (Besiktas). Defenders: Phil Bardsley (Sunderland), Christophe Berra (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Gary Caldwell (Wigan Athletic), Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rovers), Alan Hutton (Real Mallorca), Russell Martin (Norwich City), Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic), Lee Wallace (Rangers), Andy Webster (Hearts). Midfielders: Charlie Adam (Stoke City), Scott Brown (Celtic), Chris Burke (Birmingham City), Kris Commons (Celtic), James Forrest (Celtic), James McArthur (Wigan Athletic), James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Robert Snodgrass (Norwich City). Forwards: Steven Fletcher (Sunderland), Ross McCormack (Leeds United), Jamie Mackie (Queen's Park Rangers), Shaun Maloney (Wigan Athletic), Kenny Miller (Vancouver Whitecaps), Steven Naismith (Everton), Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn Rovers). As it's a friendly (against Estonia) I'd like to see a starting 11 of: ---------------Gilks --Martin --Hanley --Mulgrew Wallace ---------------Arthur ---Commons---Morrison----Phillips --------------Naismith --------------Rhodes In terms of a regular 11 ------------MacGregor Hutton --Caldwell --Mulgrew --Wallace ---------------Brown -------Morrison ------Adam --Naismith-----------------Commons -------------Fletcher Subs: Rhodes, Maloney, Morrison, McArthur, Martin, Bardsley, Gilks
I like it, Pud I would maybe honestly stick Mackie wide left in the experimental team (I know he's a striker - but he has played there in the past) cos I think the position would suit him and it would be good to see him play wide in the Estonia game.
I'd have Snodgrass or McArthur in there somewhere as well. Both those boys give you 100% and are decent players as well
I'm a bit disappointed, I would like to see SPL players outside of Celtic make the squad. I would help stop every player with any promise ****ing off at the earliest opportunity.
Cammy Bell should have been in there before Gilks. And I would also have someone like Jonny Russell in before Kenny Miller. And seeing as the lad can't stop scoring just now, what's wrong with giving the likes of McKee at Caley a wee call up to the squad?
Agree ... and I'd like to see the two GSMs (one at Brighton and one at DUFC) in the squad ( Gary Mackay Stevens/Gary Mackail Smith/Gary Och Aye McPeter Kay Stefano) ...
I have stuck up for WGS for the last eight years approximately but he has burnt His bridges with me big time. No players from Scottish First Div good enough No players from the second division good enough either but he picks a player Who showed so much ambition that he chose to play against joiner, painters, and dole merchants. Is that the type of opposition a player prepares for International Football playing against. Not only is WGS snubbing players In Scotland by picking Wallace he is also undervaluing the Scottish International Cap. Will he pick a player from the highland League for his Next International Call up. Some may say I am not Scottish , why should I interfere, I have always had a Bit of a liken for the Scottish team but more important I don't want to see the concept of International football destroyed by managers degrading int. football by erroneous selections. If Scotland have to stoop to such a football depth to select Players for squad maybe it is time for a Great Britain team.
I used to be passionate about Scotland but the last couple of years I've just almost all interest. I think WGS will do a good job. Let's face it, he can't do any worse than Levein or Burley.
Ye cannae beat when we're in with a shout of qualifying for something. All yer pals that are Huns, Buddies, Jambos etc etc all going to a game together or watching the game in the pub all supporting the same team. I love it. Remember the night before the Italy game (I've mentioned this loads on here) but the shops in Glasgow were all bedecked in saltires, Big Eck and the whole squad were on Children in Need the night before and the whole feckin' country felt like we were all pulling in the same direction for once. If anyone is going to bring back anything approaching a national fervour about Scotland games, WGS is the wee man to do it ****ing is, by the way.
He has allowed the huns to influence even his first selection squad., McCoist put the pressure on and he fell for it. How can Sevco and their fans realise that they are nothing special when their team have more players in the Scotland squad than many SPL teams.
lee wallace to be fair is a really good LB... and LB is a position where Scotland have not many options!
Paul Dixon got Man of the match on his debut against Croatia, but now apparently he isn't good enough to be in ahead of Wallace? Pish.
Stay aff that crack pipe Pud. The two GSMs? Gary Mackay Steven would be GMS, and also it's Craig Mackail Smith, no Gary.
