Just taking a small browse on twitter to see PNE and Brizzle fans speculating bids on Mr McDonald, even a wayward Chesterfield fan saying he would be an adequate replacement for Doyle!

I understand Cody is loyal, enjoying his football and is based locally but (Chesterfield aside) I do worry that if he doesn't hear about a new contract, he may have to think about what's best for his family.

I understand PS is a believer in offering deals at the end of the season with contracts that are running out but we need to get Cody tied down.

There is no point offering anyone a new contract until we get a new manager in place, he might not fancy Cody. Cody is a best an average to good L1 striker, nothing to write home about, so there is no guarantee the new manager will want him and I expect he is on a fairly hefty pay packet which could be better spent elsewhere

BSG......that suits me as we're not even an average to good league one team! He does and has delivered the goods for us over the last few seasons and I believe he will continue to do so.......given the support he deserves.....and that includes here on Not 606 too. :)

As long as the contract is at his current salary or less I cannot imagine that the new manager would be overly bothered, a consistent goal scorer is always going to have transfer value in this or any division. McDonald always tends to have more of a goal scoring flurry in the latter half of the season and I think that could prove vital to us. When a player starts getting to the 15 goal mark, larger teams always tend to come sniffing, I just don't want to see McDonald poached because he becomes disillusioned with waiting.

Windy I feel my opinion about Cody is well known but that is not the point. If I am honest Cody's recent form has impressed me but I am not the manager. Managers dislike players for all sorts of reasons, Taylor didn't like Keds and Bayo was partially frozen out by MadDog, these things happen. So it would be unfair on the club, manager and Cody to issue a new contract at this time as it would potentially limit funds and perhaps Cody's playing time, it is just good business.
