As the Swansea section of Not606 - are we limited to only discussing the current Swansea team or can we discuss whatever we like? Is it ok to discuss and follow ex-swans players/managers? Is it OK to comment on Wales/England squads or other football topics? I noticed a thread congratulating Rodgers getting lambasted and, whilst I (really) don't agree with the sentiments, if I'm happy to put a thread on criticising him (or sinclair) then I have to be receptive of someone who does not share my view. The thread is there to debate the point of view. Are we drawing a line with the Rodgers/Allen/Sinclair situation and just looking forward? I understand the desire to do that but again we're talking about consistency. Because I would like to see threads on stories like Ampadu getting a coaching job at Arsenal (good on him!) or (for example) a thread on Brian Flynn or Kenny Jackett etc, then I can't really complain when someone else wants to discuss an element of our past that I don't. Is the thread a site to comment on current Swansea players or is it a forum for Swansea fans to discuss football topics? This is not in any way a dig (it always seems so unnecessary when a thread degenerates into muck flinging) - I am just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this as it's come up a couple of times on threads.
You post what you want mate. On the thread in question the op didn't realise the strength of feeling against Rodgers and that emotions are still running very highly. I don't think for one minute he intended any malice it's just that the timing was out and perhaps he suffered because of who he was as he sometimes can have different views to most and can be controversial. That said he is a regular contributor and I consider him to be a good poster even though we don't always agree. I'm sure we'd all like to hear any news on old players/managers etc and any threads would be welcome.
Also agree that posts on past players and managers are ok, because many fans are interested in them. Those that don't like them can just not read them.
I think most would agree that threads on ex-managers and players would be of interest. If posters don't want to contribute then fine, just ignore it. I didn't agree with Dai's Liverpool/ Rodgers -worshiping thread being deleted but feelings are still running high here and it was ill-advised. Even Dai would agree he has a tendency to push his luck at times because he's so condescending, and that thread was the final straw for some.
post what you like,if people dont like it they dont have to comment on it!! the amount of replies will dictate if its topical or not, imo the more articles the better...create,debate...freely !!
If we took other's feelings into account too much, we wouldn't be able to say much at all. There is always something that someone doesn't like. Don't like Dai's comments? Then ignore them. Or debate with him. It's also having feelings that leads to passionate debate. Nothing wrong worth that. It seems that most agree that we should be allowed to post freely, but then we get complaints when someone does exactly what we all agree they should be allowed to do.
Wish I could have put it that way Goodland , I'd get myself in a whole lot less trouble . Very well put !
The way I saw it is that the thread in question got so lambasted because of who started it really. It's all fine to say let's debate etc but the thing is the person who started it doesn't really debate as such. He tends to personally insult if you don't agree with him which is why I think so many people got wound up by it. If someone else had started the same thread I would have happily put my view across and welcomed responses. But as it was I just skimmed over it and chose to ignore.
