Yesterday, for once, in this difficult league
We played the right way when away,
Do all the dirty work, then score a goal
Then more dirty work which does pay

One-nil has always been the best result
Satisfying, like lazing in the sun,
Keep all the three-nils and five-ones for home
Away, just get the job done

So many fans want pretty and neat
But dogged and dour we need too,
Especially in this league where fame doesn´t count
Yesterday has been long overdue

So, Messrs Dijks and Wildschut made a start
In a game which suited Dijks best,
A tower of strength at six foot and a bit
He did enough to pass the test

No time or space for Wildschut to impress
And he, I´m much less sure about,
Pacy is one thing, but speed on its own
Won´t necessarily carry much clout

But the first win away, for seemingly yonks
And three wins, consecutively,
Compared to late autumn and pre-Christmas time
What a nice, refreshing, winning spree. :)

Howsabout I start a 'sticky' so that everyone who feels the need for poems - and the inevitable barrage of red tulips that follow as sure as night follows day - can locate them easily - and those few pagans who find it all a little tedious know to stay well away? Genuine question!

Surely the few pagans who want to avoid them, can do so easily, without them being hidden away unnecessarily. They´re easy to identify after all. ( genuine answer)

I don´t get it Cromer, whatever is so harmful about them anyway, that you´d seemingly, rather they were removed from public view? As you yourself have pointed out, everyone has an ´ígnore ´ button, all they have to do is use it.

Why not take things a step further? From now on anyone who actually thinks that Delia and Alex Neil are doing a good job, will only be allowed to post on a ´happy clapper´ sticky. You can see yourself, surely, that very soon we´ll be on a very slippery slope.

Long before you became a mod, Kev and I decided to have one thread to contain all stickies as numerous individual stickies clog up the top of the NCFC home page making life difficult for users of smart phones and tablets who have to scroll down forever to find the latest thread.

Surely for their benefit we should be looking at fewer stickies, not even more!

I believe DH was very much instrumental in getting this sorted and arranged.

Personally if someone wants to post a poem they shouldn't be made to feel like they're not welcomed. It's easy enough to ignore if it doesn't interest you and it's not like it is being disruptive to the forums.

I don't normally view the board directly (usually through the multiview option) so I hadn't noticed how it currently looks in terms of stickied threads. I'll try and have a tidy up again some time this week and cut things down again.

When you see a thread posted by RBF, you know what you're getting 95% of the time, so it's easily avoided if it's not your cup of tea. The expression of a differing viewpoint often leads to some interesting conversations too, I wouldn't want those hidden away in one massive thread where you can't tell if there's been a spate of discussion or not.

You'll notice the one which you allegedly set up has somehow got my name as the author. Not sure how that happened unless you hacked my account to do it <laugh> <whistle>

My view as well woodbine. For me RBF's poems make a refreshing change and often provoke a good discussion as well.

FML could set up a new thread called, "What are you rhyming?"

Good point HMQC. Personally, I don't have any interest in the non-football 'What are you...' type threads, but I think they should be there for those who do.

As DH said, you kinda know if RBF starts a thread it will be in poem form, so its easy to ignore it if it isn't your thing. I like some of the 'What are you...' type threads (How else might I have found out about the quite exceptional fish n chips from the Chip Inn, Long Stratton?), but the general conversation and general football thread I find you are at risk of losing a bit of continuity. A seperate thread giving a more defined topic rather than lots of topics and points intertwinned sometimes confusing the issue. Its easier to find an old thread than a point made somewhere in 255 pages worth!

Bah!

I should probably change my signature now ones gone!

"Delia, Michael, Ed, Jez, Alex, half the players, the first team coaches, our scouting team, the tea lady OUT! :emoticon-0121-angry"

Bah!

Edit: Or is that 4 gone, with Brady, Olsson and Canos also!
