I can't bring myself to cheer Pompey on ever but tomorrow a part of me may be secretly hoping that they can manage a point against Reading? A very unusual feeling. What do you all think?
Need breathing space, Portsmouth win please! Won't happen though, they never do us any favours. They'll roll over and collapse like Cardiff.
I wish them well, for their own sake and ours. Hand on heart, it's bloody unlikely they'll get anything, as Reading are flying. But why not..? Play Up Pompey..!
Pompey to win 5.0....need their GD down. The trouble is that I think Pompey have had the stuffing knocked out of them, so don't hold out much hope.
Slightly off thread but I see Chanria is now saying he will not let the club go under. The Hong Kong businessman said he will write off some of the £17m he is owed by Pompey if he can find someone else to take charge. "I am taking over as caretaker, because if I don't the club will be liquidated," he said. Well that's more good news then!
West Ham and Saints are the clear favourites according to the bookies for promotion. Doesn't mean a lot, but does reflect the fact that holding the top two positions at this time in the season is an advantage, putting a lot of pressure on Reading. Sadly that pressure will not be enough for them to lose against Pompey.
We can't buy a win at the moment (no pun intended!) To be honest, only those with the bluest of blue tinted specs (that's me out) will be expecting to get anything from this game.
I tell you what Devon, if it wasn't for that bloody Laurence Herdman commentating, I might try tuning in for a listen, for 5 minutes. And you should have a bit more spirit about you. Come on, Play Up Pompey..!
Sometimes, you have to go with whats best for your own club and put local rivalries aside. I was in a similar situation the other day where I was cheering on millwall for a win against reading. Unfortunately the scum let us all down and couldn't hold on for a draw!
Please tell us the sophisticated historical reason behind why you call Millwall scum only our dear neighbours refer to us in this same base and insulting way and try to give it credence with a totally fabricated piece of local history. They tell porkies but everyone knows that. Their club is built on a catologue of myths, untruths and pure fiction . Please don't tell us it is because of scabs and a dock strike we have heard that story before and it just aint true.
Can't endorse that last bit. Wash your mouth out, son... But I hope they beat Reading, stay up, and most importantly survive, so I can go on holding them in contempt.
I think it's just a general term that fans use when talking about their rivals isn't it? Lighten Up Bud.
No a readibg win is better, because then when they inevitably falter, their salty tears of failure will be all the sweeter
About a month back i could see a little bit of hope that Pompey would grab a draw against Reading. Now after losing some of their key players due to their situation i bet the atmosphere in the dressing room is gloomy. Add to that the rumors that it could be their last ever game i doubt they will even have a shot on target. Nonetheless i wish them luck.
I've been a Saints fan since 1966, so the term Son, though flattering, might not be appropriate. As for whether I'm asking you to join me in supporting Pompey's plight, I'm not. If you don't want to join in, then don't. But don't ask me to stop. Is that OK with you..?
Get over yourself mate. And check your reference book of Saints songs. Then "wash your mouth out son..."
Excuse me, but I'm not the one who was doing the objecting. As regards to the song, I've never liked it.
